Draxen,

When you move a window around, did you noticed that sometimes a blue overlay appears? There's a little icon in the middle that shows where the windows will dock.

Here's how I docked the front and back image side by side.

Go to my photobucket album for the picture

EDIT: Argh! The picture order are inverted, but the names are fine.

You start with both window floating, I find it easier to get what I want that way.

Then drag the back cover window to the right edge of the front cover window, which gives the blue overlay showing where it'll dock. Release and you'll see it's docked there, inside the front window. You might have to adjust the divider.

Then I took this whole window, and docked it to the left of my main DVD Profiler window (which can also be undocked, which makes it easier to work with).

I hope this helped a little...

Yes, indeed, big thanks for taking the trouble, Ross! Explained the docking very well. Now it's just lots of trial through error for me to make the docking behave as I wish  Too often the windows I move try to fill much too large an area, getting totally over some smaller windows and so on... well, I guess I'll get there in the end...

Thanks again!

How do you get a web page to load inside of profiler. I like this idea.

Thanks

Oh, it wasn't my idea at all (I wish it was!). I learned it from Ya_shin's first post on the first page of this thread. You'll just need to use the "HTML Windows" (under View-menu in DVDP), paste Ya_shin's script there and save it. Very easy to set up.

Only thing that annoys me with including IMDb's window, is those big ads that take up quite a bit of screen space. But I've learn to live with them

I just found a nice little option in the menu: View -> View All Panel Handles

This makes ALL the window show, so basiically you see all master windows and their childs, not only the bottom most child.

Yes, those handles do help when you move the windows back and forth. Now at last I was able to make the layout where all the windows are docked to where I want them to be... For a while I tried to make one of the windows (collection list) to cover exactly two panes, alone, and still be docked - apparently that can't be done and that's fine.

So, here's yet another - and I would like to promise everyone, the last  - screenshot of my layouts. This is the one I will be using from now on, until I get to the shop and get a larger monitor... Thanks again, Ross.

Actually you can. For the sake of example, let's say you want Overview on top, and both front and back covers docked below it.

What I'd do is open the overview in floating mode.

Then open both front and back covers, also in floating mode.

Then dock the back cover next to the front cover in the front cover window.

Then you dock the single window that contains both covers to the bottom of the overview.

Then you can dock that whole overview/front/back wherever you want it in relation to your other stuff.

Can anyone explain to me exactly how to add the IMDB page using ya_shin's html code? I really don't know anything about html, so if anyone could give me step by step instructions, I'd appreciate it.

Is that the thread I linked earlier...? Then the code you actually want to copy is the one from ajm on page 2... Mine merely creates a link that you'd have to click and then IMDb will open in a browser window.

Take the code you want to use.

In DVD Profiler use the menu View|HTML Windows|Edit. In the upcoming window, create a "new HTML window" and then replace the pre-existing code by the one you copied. Exit by saying OK.

Then, under View|HTML Windows you still may have to activate the window and after that you can move it to the location you like. Make sure to save your layout when you are done.

Thanks ya_shin, but I'm still having problems, and I apologize for the stupid questions. I copied this:

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<SCRIPT TYPE="text/javascript">
<!--
<DP NAME="HEADER_VARS" Language="JavaScript" Comments="True" IncludeCast="False" IncludeCrew="False">
/**************************************************/
// Open IMDb page for the profile
function imdb() {
  var imdbStart = DP_Notes.toLowerCase().search("\<imdb\>") + 6;
  var imdbEnd = DP_Notes.toLowerCase().search("\<\/imdb\>");
  var imdbCode = DP_Notes.slice(imdbStart, imdbEnd);
  var imdbLink = ("http://www.imdb.com/title/" + imdbCode);
  if (imdbEnd > 1) {
    window.location.href= imdbLink;
  } else {
    document.write("You need to add &LT;IMDB&GT;ttXXXXX&LT;/IMDB&GT; to your notes for this to work")
  }
}
//-->
</SCRIPT>
</HEAD>
<BODY onload="imdb();">
</BODY>
</HTML>

Posted that completely into the "enter name" portion of the html window. After typing that, it comes up as simply <HTML>.....then some more writing comes up, and in the middle of the screen it shows "insert profile HTML tag, with several options. I clicked ok, and when I clicked on view html windows, a blank white box came up in the middle of the screen. What am I doing wrong?

O.k., first off, the code you have there is the one that will only put a link to IMDb in the IMDb window... The code for the actual IMDb page being loaded in the window is the one from ajm.

When you see "enter name" you just enter a name for the HTML window. "IMDb" seems a good one... Then you get a new HTML edt window on the right, with some code already in it. Delete the code you see and then paste the new one in.

Also, for either IMDb things to work, you will need to place a tag in your Notes field with the specific IMDb code for that particular film (that is the really hard part, took me the best part of a couple of hours to get 800 profiles done). The code is:
<imdb>ttxxxxx</imdb>
the xxxx number need to be looked up one by one at IMDb...

Is it possible to make an outside web page a window such as having google, IMDB, or any other page be accessible from within profiler?
