Will InterVocative & Invelos DVDP be using the same server database?

Will contributions done in InterVocative DVD Profiler (from now on) also be visible in Invelos DVD Profiler, and vice versa?

Will the Intervocative database continue to be updated?  Only for a limited period?  At all?

I guess that'll be for IVS to decide.
But I was under the impression they'd continue to operate with 2.4/5 for what I read there.
You should, however, ask them, I think.

I hope until time stops. Separating these databases is imo the worst decision ever. Especially when contributions for the new db are limited to paying users. Sure it's no problem for an R1 Lord of the Rings or American Pie dvd, they will be in the database in 24 hours. Many other dvds will not be in the new db... ever. In 2.4 I already have to add or edit at least 50% of what I buy. For 3.0 this will be more like 90% for a very long time to come. I won't be switching anytime soon...

Rebuilding the database sucks.  On the other hand, it's a great way to clear out a TON of crap profiles.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.
Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection.

I don't think things can be just like we'd like them to be.
Of course everybody here would rather prefer to have an already done DB.
And, I believe Ken himself would also like that as well. It's only logical, from the commercial viewpoint. It'd be a stronger sale argument.
So, if things are not perfect it's because surely there were reasons that prevented them from being, right?
Let's look on the bright side. Lots of crap is out!
Let's do it!

This is why if you use this program, you should be paying for it, IMO.

Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
Rapture."

Rebuilding the db has the advantage, that the often requested change to usage of full UPC, rather than truncated ones, can be done "easily". (On the other hand, once we change the UPC locally to be able to contribute the particular profile, we have to rescan the Disc-ID... )

EDIT:
Doh. just found the thread where it was discussed, that many (most) UPCs get converted automatically during the initial import. I will see later how many unconverted ones will hit me...

I fully I agree.
While I finally paid the registration fee for the new version (just out of curiosity, I'm funny that way), this is a major drawback for profiles of not so popular titles.

I think it would be a good thing if contribution of profiles would be, let's say, two weeks or a month for free. (You don't make contributions for your own fun, but for the community, right?) Otherwise many, many 'smaller' dvd releases will be lost.

In my opinion, and it's not a humble one,    Building a new data base is one of the best ideas I've seen in the new version so far. Sure it causes a few slight problems but only in the short run. What a superb way to dump the garbage. By being selective in what (or who's) work is to be accepted, this new data base will be large enough and far better than the old one within a couple of weeks.

Think about it, inside a 24 hour time frame the data base has gone from fewer than 100 to 12,396. And I haven't uploaded any of my obscure titles yet. We and the new data base will be fine.

Now if we could just get those elusive grandchild profiles.

DVD > Add to collection > add by Title,  make sure any region is selected all the way through. Current released count just over 11,000. Not bad for a days work.
