Hi silent bob, iTunes works very well in keeping devices in synch. I have an iPad, appletv an iphone and an itouch. iTunes is the central hub for keeping all these devices in synch for photos, movies, music. So yes can work extremely effectively in keeping contents of multiple devices in synch.

iTunes works great that way with Apple's own apps. But third-party apps like DVDP don't get this kind of access to iTunes.

The other very dissapoining thing is if you upload your collection via iPhone. There is no way of sharing That via the web either it seems as dvdprofiler users previously have been doing for years !

Syncing with the online database has already been announced as an upcoming feature.

Does that mean with this comment and previous that we will never be able to synch across ipad, iphone, mac for a common database ?  or do you mean the synch will just not ever happen wiht itunes but will become possible by other means ?

It means, it will not happen through iTunes (unless Apple opens it up for other developers in the future). Once the online sync will be available, I guess it should be possible to keep multiple iOS devices in sync that way.

And the online sync has been announced here.

Looks like it just got easier to port iOS apps to Mac OS X. As I mentioned in previous posts, there would still be a lot of work to do to turn the app into a full-featured desktop version, but I guess our chances are getting better.

Once catalogued myncollection through the iPhone, why can't I view it online like this ?

The online collection is only available to users of the desktop version which right now (or maybe forever) is only available as a Windows application. It can be run under MAC using e.g. WINE or Virtual Machine software though.

Gather that, it's needed on a Mac, that's what this threads about. Otherwise us who have got our collection going on an iPhone can never view it online.
