But also, it may not be a simple of a fix as you think it is. I'm pretty sure this entire forum is custom coded by Invelos, considering how integrated it is with the DVD contribution process. It's certainly not phpBB nor is it vBulletin.

That is true as far as I know.  As I recall, Ken said that when these forums opened.  Which may make things harder or easier.  Only Ken could say for sure.

Pointless or not, if Ken chooses to work on that, I certainly wouldn't complain.  As a programmer myself, I actually like simple little requests like this.  Gives me something to do when I need a break from the Big Stuff.  And it's sometimes nice to have something to cross off regardless of how simple and easy it is. So maybe you'll get lucky and Ken will see it the same way and get to it at some point.  Certainly wouldn't bother me at all.  Nor would it bother most people from what I'm reading.  It's just that most of us would call it a very low priority.

I guess if I were someone who made a lot of typos that I had to go back and correct, maybe I'd be annoyed to have my post flagged as "edited."  (If truth be told, I am such a person, LOL.)  But unless I am somehow being discriminated against because a lot of my messages are flagged as "edited" (and I don't think they are), my attitude remains, "who cares."

BTW: I haven't seen any forums with a window to choose whether or not an edit is marked as an edit as Grendell describes.  The closest thing I have found are the forums which give you the option of giving a reason for the edit.

Not a real edit? I don't know... in my mind an edit is and edit... is an edit. Don't see where what has been edited... or how long since the original post makes a difference. But I guess that is me.

It is me as well.  Whether it was edited 1 second, or one hour, after the initial post, it was edited.  I honestly don't see where the annoyance comes in.  But, as you said, I guess that is just me.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
