How about a simple (optional) email notification for no-votes?

While either way would be good to me... I would prefer something on the site instead of an email. And of course I would have no problem with it being configurable.

The problem that might arise from an on-site-notification only is that many, especially new, contributors don't check the forum on a regular basis. So this notification might pass completely unnoticed.

So in my eyes an E-Mail notification is to be preferred.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

What the heck! Give us both!

As much email as I get every day... I would be sure to miss some of them. Between the forum reply notifications on all the forums I go to and all the yahoo groups I am on I get well over 1,000 emails per day. That is why I would personally prefer the on site notification.

Wich is the same reason why some people never open their PM as they don't look the forum. It's the reason I never feel insulted when a contributor doesn't reply or open one of my PM to discuss one of his/her contribution.

A little pop-up would indeed be nice or a message displayed at the top of the page like when we have a private message

I would like it to be like this too.

If possible, if I have someone blocked I would like the pop-up blocked also.

Roflmao, how typical.  Interpreting things as it suits a users mood and doesn't want to be informed of valid no voted. In my book such a statement even further negatively impacts a contributors credibility. And a user claims to not take no voted personally...yeah right.

Rarely do you vote "yes" on anything I contribute. Almost without exception your "no" vote is the only one among many "yes" votes.

Not only that but I find your comments to me on the voting page to be rude and insulting rather than helpful.

Although you have the right to vote "no" I don't want to be informed every time you do.

You may consider your "no" votes "valid" but seldom do the screeners or the voters agree with you as far as my contributions are concerned.

If I block someone it's because he harass me, so I don't see in wich way his/her comment would be valid (usually we block people for good reasons).

Some people have nothing more to do in their life than harassing other people behind their computer desk for trivial things like whatever you can think of... No need to give them a new way to cause trouble.

Sorry jimmy,  I refuse to block anyone for any reason short of a small few for pms, even the worst in my eyes once in awhile has something  of value to add to a conversation, but to block a no vote is just  incredible. I vie blocking as a non-adult response to attempting to discuss something, which most of the timed appears to be a weakness for some , they lack the ability to Express an opinion or engage in a discussion then the only way out is to block someone. Also using that childish system they are free to disparage, and insult without dealing with the ramifications.

Don't forget, it isn't a blocking of the no vote but a blocking of the automatic notification of one. Nothing prevent to see the vote while watching the contribution done. So see it more like a "don't annoy me with that now" I'll see when I'll check the vote on my contribution as this user comments are generally unfounded anyway...

I chose not name anyone becaause I didn't want to go there. You are constantly attacking and insulti ng Mr. You. Claim that you follow invelos guidance and that is patently untrue, I don't use your favorite choice of words. Gerri said to explain why or what you believe to be improved when you submit an image change. You completely disregard the advice of invelos and substitute one of the most useless phrased evervto grace anyone's noted, so stop pretending you only follow invelos when it is convenient for you to do so, that is not behavior worthy of the Kathy I know. Now it has come to light that you seem to have replaced a cover which complied with the rules with one that did.not and that had farther reaching consequences outside of the images. I bear you no ill will Kathy, tho bad you can't saY the same, but I am sorry neither will I allow you to hold yourself as something you are not. I want to see the Kathy I know not a pretender.

Seriously guys can we go one day without the "she doesn't like me / he doesn't like me" skit?

This have nothing to do here and the fact that someone doesn't want to get an email alert everytime a non reasonable no-vote appears on one of his/her contribution is 100% reasonable.

There is way to wrote a comment on a no vote casting acceptable and there is way to wrote a comment on a no vote casting unacceptable. I know that when I was a contributor some of the rare no I got were justified, but most of them weren't...

When I see a contribution with "New scans for your consideration" I check the scan if it looks better than what is already here. If it is I vote yes if it isn't I vote no, I don't use my vote as a personal vendetta against the contributor who by the way did more than I (or anyone else who don't contribute) do by contributing.

You don't need a doctorate thesis for a scan contribution. The eyes is the only thing you need, unless someone is blind and need someone to read him/her a description but why the hell would a blind person would care in the first place??? Unless it is just stalking vendetta...

BTW the "New scans for your consideration" is presently on one of the contribution I voted on and this is not one from Kathy
