This one aswell. Heard alot about it, before i watched it. And what a movie, what a history and a story.
And its black and white too. I like black and white movies. And Ingrid Bergman plays in it aswell.. Whom i am a big fan of. Just a perfect movie trough and trough. Its on my top 4 list of favourite movies of all time.
"Well Always Have Paris" That is another GREAT movie. I like most of Bogart's stuff ... but especially with Lauren 'OH MY GOD SHE IS HOT' Bacall. I love 'Key Largo', 'The Big Sleep' and 'To Have and Have Not' just as well as Casablanca DSig |

| | Posted: | | | | Astro Boy Region 1 Released: 3/16/2010 Anamorphic 2.35:1 Just watched this great animated feature .. another one that lets you forget that you are watching an animation. Very well done graphically. The cast includes the voices of such A rated actors as Charlize Theron, Freddie Highmore, Ryan Stiles, Eugene Levy, Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland and Bill Nighy. On first watch I had this as a 4of5. Having just watched this again (02jun12) and I am moving it to 3.5of5. Not that it has lost anything but probably because i rated it to hight to begin with. It is still a great movie and is heartily recommended that everyone see it. |

| | Posted: | | | | Just got through watching .. City Slickers: Collector's Edition Region 1 Released: 6/3/2008 Anamorphic 1.85:1 This is a great comedy with a great cast. Billy Crystal, Daniel Stern, Bruno Kirby and Jack Palance headline the cast with brilliant performances. Three middle aged men, all facing their own personal demons, go to a dude ranch to work a cattle drive. This is a very funny movie and I recommend it to all. 3.5of5 |

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief Region 1 Released: 6/29/2010 Widescreen 2.35:1 I just got a replacement copy of 'Percy Jackson & then Olympians' and since it try to watch all movies as i get them i decided to watch this again and I still find this movie enjoyable. Sure it didn't do well at the box office and i doubt that the other books will be made into movies .. still this is just good fun. I give this a 3of5 and for anyone who likes adventure movies with some teen age anxt .. this is a good movie for them. DSig |

It would probably help to read the book before. But I don't think it's absolutely necessary. It would help with some of the little things they changed and there were a couple things that might be confusing if you hadn't read the book where it's explained more thoroughly, but overall, I thought it was well done both for those who had read the book and those who hadn't. | | | | Lori |

DSig I recommended Hunger Games because I enjoyed the book so much that I had to watch the movie and enjoyed that as well. For Percy Jackson, I loved the book series. I read the first to see what it was all about and read the 4 that were out in a week (5 was still being written). When I heard about the movie I got excited and went to see it right away. Was totally disappointed. While I enjoyed a few scenes, I thought they really messed it up from the book and that they ruined any chance of having the rest of the books made into movies. It is one of those book into movies versions, that if you hadn't read the book, you probably enjoyed it, but they changed so much that was necessary for the sequels and just generally stuff they didn't need to. | | Posted: | | | | I think so too! I can usually picture characters quite well and am disappointed at how they are portrayed on screen. I usually have my hopes up pretty high and then they come crashing down.
Hunger Games is one of the few, I think, turned out well. Most everyone was how I thought they'd look and everything that was really important to the plot was in there. Just a few things they changed that I could live with.
Now, Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader is totally different! They ruined it for me. I waited for years to see that as a big budget film. From the moment they announce the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. It's my favorite book of the series, I've enjoyed the BBC version...I was ready. Then they completely changed the plot for no reason and threw in some weird green mist. Why? Why, I ask you?! Now I'm worried about the rest of the series. I'm starting to think there is some sort of curse on the series. There hasn't been any films made past the Silver Chair and I REALLY want to see the Last Battle on screen.
They are making Ender's Game right now and I'm worried how that will come out. One of the best books I've read. Easily in my top ten (by Orson Scott Card, sci-fi). I'm both pleased and sad that they are finally making it into a movie. Really hoping it turns out well.
Harry Potter, I thought they did pretty good with. Some of the movies I liked better than the books. The Black Stallion was a little to artsy for me, though I still pull it out and watch it. The picture is great, but I could do with a little more dialogue, even if it was Alec talking to the horse. Most of the Roald Dahl movies turned out pretty good as well (Matilda, James and the Giant Peach). Even the Wizard of Oz-while it doesn't follow the book very closely, it's well done and I can appreciate it by itself as it doesn't take away from the book. | | | | Lori |
