It's not a question of quality as I understand it, Evo. It's a question of ORIGINAL Cover art. Perhaps I misunderstand what you are saying, but that's what it sounds like to me. If the images are not the Originally released Cover Art then quality or lack thereof is irrelevant.

Most are oversharpened, badly clipped, show bad colours.

Well... that's exactly the case with your covers. Take "The Living Daylights" for example. You can't tell me that you think your scans (on the right) do have better colours than the existing ones (on the left)...

Compression artefacts, no contrast, and there's dust and grain in it - and by the way... it's tilted.

And what do you mean by "disregard scans"? If you don't want to contribute them, don't check the checkbox while uploading the profile.

As I see the images on the right the contrast and brightness settings are not correct giving the image a washed out appearance, the blac is not black. I would have had to vote No as well. Thanks for the images, jano.

Yikes!!!  If that is any indication of the "quality" of scans being contributed, then please, don't bother wasting the screener's or voter's time by uploading them.  Anyone who says with a straight face that those images should be considered for inclusion into the database needs to have their head examined...as well as their eyes  .

If you don't like them, vote no, simple. I won't argue why the left one is not correct [both, are "tilted" the same, BTW] - actually in this case I have no qualms about the off-colours. The technical discussion on why the scans on the right are neither to bright nor have lost contrast I leave to fora specialised in digital imaging [any dust specks visible should tell you that the scan on the right has all image data in it, no clipping].

I am not curious how the right scan is oversharpened, clipped or shows bad colour, Jano. Any mistake in contributing images with profiles is due to a flurry of New Contributions and quickly done corrections over the week-end. Probably shouldn't have tried to help fill the database, just lead to many double contributions. In the case of "disregard" I'd have liked to not check them for contribution - not possible, yet.

Evo:

I clean up my iamges and remove any dust specks, I didn't look for those but that might also draw a No vote.

You mention your experience and I think that's great, but we have people here< I hope I can include myself in this list, like 8BallMax, Erik, dirk_steitz and VibroCount who all do v very high caliber work and bring their own specialized skill sets. For mine I have to rest on thousands of scanned images and constant learning, sometimes with the help of my friends. I can assure you the starightness issue aside, that none of us would even consider allowing your images into the database, nothing against you.  If yous got approved and my images were not up to my standards I would be on my scanner so fast....

I hope you will take this for the constructive criticism it is intended to be.
