Override "Duplicate" Title?

Is there a way to override a "duplicate" title?  I quote "duplicate" because it's not really a duplicate title AFAICT.  Here's the situation:

I added The Walking Dead: The Complete First Season 3-Disc Special Edition (013132-309798).  But there were no "child" titles for the individual discs.  So I went to add the discs manually by inserting them into my BD-ROM drive.  The first one had a match, but when I went to add it, it said I already had that title in my collection and it would not allow me to add it.

I tried to get around this by changing the title of the original barcoded entry, thinking if it was different it would allow me to add the discs.  But I still was not able to add it.

I'm going to try removing the barcoded entry and see if I can add the discs and if possible I'll make a custom box set title for it but as I work on finding a good solution for this I thought I would poll the audience to see if there is a solution I'm not thinking of.

According to the online database your mentioned profile has child profiles for the individual discs and the error messages you described hint that they are already in your collection. So are you sure you don't have any settings activated hiding those child profiles?

Adding to what ninso4 said, if the profile is already in your collection and is not yet connected with the parent profile, try a search/filter for "Walking Dead" and look through the listed profiles.

Unless the profiles are connected to the parent by doing "Check for Child profiles", DVD Profiler does usually not add them to the parent automatically. It probably has either no collection number or a number that is not "near" the number of the parent, so it is not immediately in sight when looking at the parent profile.

If the disc is already in your collection as part of a different set, you may want to try the alternate versions feature of the program.

@ninso4, @nuoyaxin:
I removed the title from my collection then tried adding it again via UPC but it did not have child profiles.

I then tried adding it via name, found a similar title (different UPC and cover art) but it, too, did not have child profiles.

I do see the different discs in the "parent" profile of both titles, but this particular title is different from other TV series titles I've added.  For example, any Doctor Who series I've added via UPC had each disc as a child title (Disc 1, Disc 2, etc) to the parent title (Doctor Who: The Complete Fifth Series).

I did confirm that my default "check for child profiles" is automatically checked.  It just appears that this particular (very specific) title does not have child profiles.  And when I try to add the discs via Disc ID, it is somehow associating the disc with the UPC, and saying I already have the title (not the disc) in my collection.

My workaround for this (for now) was to find Discs 1 and 2 of this title from the list (searching manually by title), adding those two discs to my collection, then adding the title via UPC, and making the two manually-added discs as child titles of the parent titles.  However, this does not solve the problem of having Disc 3 as a child title.

So my next question is this, as it is somewhat related to the original topic:

In a situation like this, where a Parent title (with no child titles) is showing the individual discs on the Parent Title, is there a way to convert/move those discs to become child titles?  I believe I had at least one other title with a similar situation (can't recall offhand as I've entered over 500) but I was able to add the individual discs via "by inserted disc" and was okay.

This specific title just has me scratching my head as to why it is behaving in this manner.  I didn't think adding a disc via "by inserted disc" was supposed to correspond to the title's UPC code.  It seems like in this case the two are locked together.

Okay. Odd behaviour for this one. I downloaded your mentioned profile. According to the preview in the adding window this profile should definitely have disc level child profiles.
Here they are:

However while adding the profile a window asking you if you want to add the child profiles should open.
This is not the case here. The profile gets downloaded without the child profiles.
Then I downloaded another profile (The Walking Dead: Season 5) with child profiles. A window asking whether I want to download child profiles appears as intended. The profile gets downloaded with its child profiles as it should be. No error here.
I think there is some kind of problem with the specific profile with UPC 013132309798.
Maybe you should open a support ticket so that this profile can be fixed.

This can happen when the person who created the profiles neglects to upload the child profiles.  The parent will have them listed but, because they weren't uploaded to the online, they can't be downloaded.

I opened a support ticket for this and have tried two different ways to explain the problem (even including a link to this thread) and each time I do not feel I have communicated the problem effectively.  I just tried a third time, waiting for a response.

Any advice on perhaps the correct way to phrase the problem?  This is the third attempt:

-----
I don't think I'm perhaps communicating the problem effectively.  Let me try again.

The individual discs in this collection are stored in your database under the parent title UPC code instead of the individual disc ID.  This is why each time I insert a single disc and try to add it to my collection, it is saying I already have the title in my collection.  For example:

Disc 1:
Disc ID 6C02F207C6930BE8
Stored in your database as 013132-309798 (the parent title UPC code)

Disc 2:
Disc ID A5E46A10C8FA2144
Stored in your database as 013132-309798 (the parent title UPC code)

Disc 3:
Disc ID F2BCEB241BDD4A64
Stored in your database as 013132-309798 (the parent title UPC code)

Would it be possible to change this information in your database so that, when I insert the correct disc, it will actually allow me to add the disc to my collection?

It sounds like you may just need to uncheck the "download from Invelos" box.

That's what I was told the solution was.  Gracias, will be checking it out soon.
