I received Dark Tower release from Amazon on 10/2/2017.  It still has a posted release of 10/31.

If this shipment was inadvertent, do we keep the posted release date?

Yes. We should go by official release date. If some outlet broke street date, that's really hard to verify.

I would go with the published release date.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I would absolutely go with the official release date.

Maybe a single person in the world got theirs on 10/1/17. We should try and track them down and use that as the release date then.

Too many variables.

Sure, one person here documented theirs... what happens when that doesn't happen? What happens when someone else got theirs first by a day or two and comes in in a few months and says THAT should be the release date?
The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play.

Went through this last year with a few of Scream Factory's Collector Editions discs.

Someone entered the date that they received them in the mail (because Scream Factory, if ordered directly from them, will ship their discs out two weeks/one week early).

Someone else came in and said they got their disc a few days earlier and THAT should be the release date.

I tried to enter the official release date and got voted no on by both of those users who both thought their release date should be the official release date because that's the day they got theirs in the mail.

I on the other hand, got mine directly in-between theirs and if I had entered it first with that date, we'd have had three people fighting over a release date.

So yeah, I'd go with the official release date. Because a mistake was made or someone broke street date doesn't make it an official release date.

If we start to enter dates when people receive the items we might just as well delete the field from the public database and make it private since it serves no purpose anymore.
