  | | Posted: | | | | Hi everybody, after the first poll and posting i`m shure it`s very intresting for lots of us to know how many DVD`s the people buy per month to bulid such huge collections like 10000+ ? Do you have the need to buy DVD`s to incrase your Collection? Or do you buy them just to have them? Everybody who has looked here first, should please also vote in my other posting "How many DVD`s do you have on your shelf?"     Greetings alextest     |

  | | Posted: | | | | Well, I really should limit myself to 5-10 a month... but over the last year, I've averaged about 29 per month!!!        Funny how you always buy more than you think when you are a collector... |

[image was here] DJ, how did you get this graph? Did you use a special tool or is it just plain Excel? |

DJ, how did you get this graph? Did you use a special tool or is it just plain Excel? At first I tried it with just plain excel and the "Pivot table" function based upon the xml. But it didn't work (or I don't know how to use excel for such a case) and therefore I wrote me a quick&dirty .NET command line tool which took the xml and outputted a CSV from which I derived this chart. If you want you can zip&mail me your XML and I'll give you the XLS in return. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

Just uploaded my tool (Q&D as I said): executableSourceput your collection.xml in the same directory as the .exe and execute it. Then you have a nice little .csv which you can open in Excel and produce your charts. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

  | | Posted: | | | | Looking at my purchases in 2007 so far, it seems to vary anywhere between 5 and 25. I only keep track of ones I keep though so it's probably a little higher than that.
That's right down from 5 years ago, when I would hit around 50-60 a month, building up my collection. |
