Not to mention that you have to pay additional for used games.

| Posted: | | | | I'm not a gamer (I only have a Wii, which is very rarely used), but the PS4 looks leaps & bounds better than the xBox One. $100 cheaper, doesn't need to be connected to the internet every day, can play used games, is region-free. Seems like MS has a nice hole to dig themselves out of. | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

Don't get me started on the sheer stupidity about restricting used games. Yeah the used game market makes gaming company's lose a lot of revenue. But that's far out weighed by how many consoles are sold because of the used games market. I could go on and on about how Microsoft have pretty much something set up to fail like the Sega 32X. As many have done already. When i heard that launch price i wanted Michael Caine to get up on stage and sing It's Over. |

I could be mixing them up, but hasn't the PS4 also been announced that only THEIR games would be able to be resold but anything not by them would be able to have all the locks and inability to be resold? That it'll be up to individual companies? So while it sounded good, it's not as great as it made it sound. Glad I don't play much anymore. | | | Lori |

Glad I don't play much anymore. Sony has said that the system the PS3 has now i going to continue on PS4. SO publisher can use Onlne passes to block of multiplayer, bur since the games are not connected to your account and the console doesn't require an internet connection at all this is as far as publishers can take it.... Yes, you're mixing them up. Sony explicitly said that the PS4 will not have any kind of online authentication, limitation to selling games or any of the other insanely anti-customer things Microsoft put into the Xbox One. With both consoles using almost the same hardware and the PS4 being $100 cheaper, I don't think many will buy the Xbox. As Paul said, publishers can still use online passes or something like that to limit the functionality of used games, but even EA announced that they won't use them in the future and they are removing the need for online passes for games that previously needed them. |

I plan on getting the PS4, had thoughts about the XBoxOne until I learned of the issues with privacy, online, used games, etc. I liked the idea of having my PVR go through my xbox and the instant switching and integrating with Skype, but with all the issues and it being $100 more I'll go with the PS4. $400 is really pretty cheap for a new gaming console, and while it won't be as big of jump from the PS2 to PS3 it still looks worthwhile. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

I went back and checked. According to the article, they are leaving it up to individual companies whether or not to put restrictions on the games that can be played on the PS4. Here's the original link, though I read it from another site who quoted him. Here's the important part: “Well, I mean, we create the platform, we’ve certainly stated that our first-party games are not going to be doing that, but we welcome publishers and their business models to our platform,” explained Tretton. “There’s gonna be free-to-play, there’s gonna be every potential business model on there, and again, that’s up to their relationship with the consumer, what do they think is going to put them in the best fit. We’re not going to dictate that, we’re gonna give them a platform to publish on… The DRM decision is going to have to be answered by the third parties, it’s not something we’re going to control, or dictate, or mandate, or implement.” | | | Lori |

| Posted: | | | | That was a misunderstanding between Jack Tretton and the interviewer. Here is Sony's official stance. More here and hereHope that clarifies it for you. Personally i'm very excited by the PS4's announcement and am looking forward to playin it myself.... Paul |

PS4 looks much better IMO. Can you please show the article where it said used games were going to have an additional cost. I ask because in the release announcement they said they were going to leave it up to the publishers. The EXACT same thing Sony said they were going to do with the PS4 |

Here are is one and another oneOf course things may change, but as it stands now there is very little reason, for me at least, to pick up a SBoxOne over a PS4. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |
