It does not matter what the VV represents.

If it does not represent two "V"s then why would you want to use two "V"s in your contribution?
Because that's what it says on the cover?

If it can be typed on a standard keyboard that is what we use.

The Witch.  That was easy, and with a "standard keyboard" too.

---------------
The VVitch. That was also easy to type on a standard keyboard!

But Witch is not the title from the front cover... As I said... This is no different then the others... Thir13en Ghosts... Fant4stic...T4XI...Se7en... This one is no different.

- Thir13en Ghosts
- Fant4stic
- T4XI

Or any other stylized typing of the title. We take the title from the front cover as it is on the front cover. If it can be typed on a standard keyboard that is what we use. And the history of the letter means absolutely nothing... . not when it comes to what we contribute to the online database.

I hate it, but I have to agree that it is apparently the way Ken wants it. None of those titles goes into my collection that way. But that's local, of course.

Fortunately, I wouldn't be caught dead with any of these titles.

Still no W on the front cover...so per rules must be...

The VVitch: A New-England Folktale

That is a stylized "W" that you are seeing, and not two "V"s.  Just check out the history of the letter "W".

---------------

and it used to be written as UU or VV before it was a W. It's not a stylized, it's an original.

Language changes and UU or VV changed to a W – this is designed to look like 'olde English' to reflect the setting, but is clearly VV rather than W, and the title should reflect that.

Maybe they created a special font for this cover that has a "W" that looks like two "V"s.

There is a very good possibility that this is the case.

Especially because the word "VVitch" does not exist. Check out Merriam-Webster (since 1828).

As has been pointed out, words including Thir13en Ghosts, Fant4stic T4XI and Se7en do not exist either, but are accepted because that is what is written on the front cover of those individual releases.

I've actually never seen it, but films of that type are definitely not my thing. I'm not even curious.

This is a glimpse into history that shows how the alphabet has since evolved over time.

Based on today's alphabet...

vvrovght = wrought
gloriovs = glorious
vnto = unto
