Why are we doing this for the millionth time? This is getting old.
Tell me about it... and as of this post it tells us what we already knew... half of us want child profiles and the other half don't... as of right now... 33 don't and between the other 2 choices (which both would mean they want child profiles) 33 of us do. I thought all this was settled when Ken acknowledged that he had no problem with our compromise. | | | Pete |

I thought all this was settled when Ken acknowledged that he had no problem with our compromise. What I don't understand is why those who don't want to do child profiles are trying to prevent child profiles from being allowed at all. If you don't like them, fine, don't use them. The compromise to put the cast and crew information in both parent and child gives the anti-child profilers nothing to complain about. They are still getting their info without all of the expanded info that pro-child profilers want (thinpak cover art, full overviews, etc.). I don't see the issue. |

| Posted: | | | | What? THat half think they are box sets and half don't?
That some are not willing to compromise while others are?
That Ken already said we can have it both ways and we stilll need another useles poll and 50 pages of he said she said endless discussions?
I'm glad you find hearing the same stffl from the same people over and over and over entertaining. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... | | | Last edited: by NewEnglander |

I'm glad you find hearing the same stffl from the same people over and over and over entertaining. I find the numbers interesting, not entertaining. If you don't want to read the pages, don't. Isn't that the same as the argument that those who don't want child profiles don't need to download them? | | | ...James

The way I read the numbers here is (from favoring parent profiles on the left to favoring child profiles on the right: 34 / 21 / 13 The last poll in the committee, which roughly correlates to these same options, flows as: 9 / 19 / 10 I find that interesting. But then again, I'm an accountant. I doubt seriously that Ken's going to yank the child profiles out of the db or ban any further child profiles, so surely there isn't anything for child profile advocates to worry about. I just think the data is interesting and I'm glad Tigihof ran this poll. That's all. | | | ...James

After Ken spoke, why was it necessary to ask this question yet again? Real answers please. | | | Signature banned: Reason out of date... |

I didn't start the poll. You'll have to ask Tigihof why he felt it "necessary". I said I thought it was interesting. In his first post, he states that the committee is discussing it but he would like to know the opinion of the community. Perhaps he felt the community held a different view than the committee. I don't know. I don't know the "real answers", if there are any. | | | ...James

Tigi:
If that doen't hold for you, then why not just vhange the wy we handle Boxsets too, since they ARE essential;ly the same, contain similar sata. we don't need the Cover Art, or th cast and crew list(we have dividers), and we don't need o know where the Special Features are.
Skip Red Herring alert! The poll has nothing whatever to do with Movie Boxsets. | | | Hal |

Well, as I already said, Erik (tell me about repeating things for the millionth time...), as opposed to what you and Skip are stating, there has never been a poll for the whole community about handling TV series within the rules - plain and simple. This is an important issue and I felt it necessary to get opinions from all(!) users. And I find the result quite interesting. What I find even more interesting is the childish behaviour of certain users in this thread who have not only made complete fools of themselves - again - but also shown their total disability to listen to opinions that don't go along with what they have already decided. And yes, even if this poll doesn't yield any utilizable results, it was great fun to see Skip and his brainwashed minions foam... | | | Michael |

Hey that is all unimoportant Achim. I am being told told that Artwork and the ability to find out which disc , of the many in the set, might contain Special freatures are unimporatnt. So I a merely throwing that right back in your face. Those differences are simply not important to ebought to not be able to list all the cast and Crew of the Movie set in the master profile.

| Posted: | | | | The results of this poll clearly indicate a preference for cast and crew entry in the parent profile. The choice of whether to download individual disc profiles then becomes a matter of personal preference. As I mentioned earlier, box set contents are automatically locked when the profile is added to the local database, so the user can clear them at that time (or just ignore them as they have no impact if the child discs don't exist locally). As to the child profiles, we will accept them into the online database. Once box set contents are added to the parent, removal will generally not be allowed. The rules have been modified to indicate this. Feedback on the changes is welcome. I personally don't have child profiles for box sets of TV series, so I'll be happy to have the cast and crew info in the parent profile. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative |
