| | Posted: | | | | My friend asked me if I wanted to watch Holiday Inn last night and I hadn't seen it so I said yes. To...discourage/encourage/warn? me she told me it was a musical. I laughed as I liked musicals and then she told me it was b&w. I had to laugh at that, too. It was interesting that she thought that because it wasn't in color, she thought I wouldn't want to watch it!
I did enjoy this and thought it was a fun premise...having an inn that was only open on the holidays. It was fun to watch the dancing; you don't see a production like that anymore. I'd watch it again, maybe not every year but definitely again.

I'd give it a 4/5. Glad to hear you liked it. It is a very good movie and it has some great moments. In fact the founder of Holiday Inn hotels liked the movie, he named his company after the movie. Since you seemed to like this one, I suggest you check out White Christmas. It has a simlar plot to Holiday Inn, but it too is great Bing Crosby flick. | | | We're on a mission from God.

| | Posted: | | | | Funny you mentioned White Christmas...we were debating about watching it but it was almost 1:30 in the morning when we finished the movie (and the bottle of wine) so decided to head to bed instead. I'll keep an eye out for it on TV and see if I can catch it there. Just checked the TV Guide and while Holiday Inn is on twice, White Christmas isn't being shown in the near future. It's a gift the whole family will treasure. My Thoughts:This is another one that I recorded off of cable recently. I don't feel it quite held up to the first 2 parts... but I still enjoyed it a lot. While the storyline with Jack Frost left me a little cold ( Sorry... couldn't help myself)... I though Martin Short was a good choice for the role. Cross, who has made the meteoric rise from the depths of the mailroom to TV network president, is mean, nasty, uncaring, unforgiving and has a sadistic sense of humor - perfect qualities for a modern-day Scrooge. Before the night is over, he'll be visited by a maniacal New York cab driver from the past, a present-day fairy who's into pratfalls and, finally, a ghoulish, seven-foot headless messenger from the future. My Thoughts:This is another one I recorded off of cable... one I haven't seen in several years. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It is just a fun spoof off of the Christmas classic. My Thoughts:I recorded this one off of cable. While enjoyable... this remake just does not compare to the classic. It is missing a lot of the charm that made the original version so good. We've watched this every year since I was a child - just now we don't have to wait for it to come on tv, but can just pop it in whenever we want. Goddess, I love dvd. Screaming, clawing victims of the Anti Claus, a pagan god with an unjolly thirst for blood. Scary Christmas, Sam and Dean. My Thoughts:This is a cool Christmas episode... I enjoyed it very much. Art Carney is a forlorn department store Santa who takes to drinking - only to find himself experiencing the nicest Christmas ever! My Thoughts:This is a very good episode. I have enjoyed watching this one every year for quite a while now. I think Art Carney did a great job in his role. | | Posted: | | | |  The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries: Season 2: Will the Real Santa...The distinction between who's naughty and who's nice becomes blurred as Nancy works to restore the honor of a gentleman who is accused of burglary -- and who claims to be Santa Claus. My Thoughts:Now this one is a real trip down memory lane! I used to love this show when I was no more then a little tyke. This is one of the episodes that Pamela Sue Martin played Nancy Drew (Janet Louise Johnson [AKA Janet Julian] took over shortly after). And she happens to be my favorite Nancy Drew to date. This is a good episode. It is strong on the holiday spirit... at the same time has a good mystery. Actually it has 2 mysteries. One being the Christmas Burglar and the other being the two men that are following Griffin throughout the entire episode. After having this set for a few years now... this episode is becoming a regular addition to my Christmas Marathon. My Rating: 4/5 | | | | Pete |

| | Posted: | | | |  Picket Fences: Season 1: PageantryThe townspeople are livid when they discover that a woman schoolteacher, who is also supposed to play Mary in the upcoming Christmas pageant, is a transexual. My Thoughts:OMG... this must be one of the most preachy, self-righteous shows that was ever created... but even so it is still so very addictive at the same time. It is one of those shows I hate myself for enjoying so much! But I blame it on the fact that a young Holly Marie Combs is in it... yeah... that's it... that is my story and I am sticking to it! Even though Holly Marie Comb's part was fairly limited in this episode... she did make a strong appearance. I really liked how in the end it was the children standing up to the adults that did the trick. Yes... there is times when you can learn something from your kids. My Rating: 3.5/5 | | | | Pete |

An angry and delusional Santa Claus takes Max and Ginny hostage. My Thoughts:This is one of the first shows I ever seen do 2 Christmas episodes within one season. I liked this one a little more then I did the last one... but that could be because it has more Holly Marie Combs in it! Still a preachy show?.... yes! But in this case I think I would have reacted much like the father on this show did. I couldn't imagine walking in on my daughter having sex... I definitely would have went off! He claims his name is Kris Kringle, and soon fills everyone with Christmas spirit...except for his boss, Doris Walker (Maureen O'Hara), who's raising her daughter (Natalie Wood) to not believe in Santa. But when Kringle is declared insane, and put on trial, everyone's faith is put to the test as young and old alike face the age-old question: Do you believe in Santa Claus? My Thoughts: This is a Christmas classic that I'd somehow missed seeing over the years, but I picked up a copy a couple years ago and have finally gotten around to watching it. I'm sorry it's taken so long to watch it, because this is a thoroughly delightful film. I've seen many depictions of Santa, and Edmund Gwenn's is by far the absolute best. Highly recommended. Of course, I totally skipped the colorized version, as colorizing black & white movies is an abomination. Surrounded by crooked Santas, sneaky thieves and suspicious cops, Ziggy remains honest and kind. An oldie but goodie. From a comic strip to cartoon, they did a pretty good job. | | Posted: | | | | Christmas in Boston/Santa Baby 2: Double Feature Region 1 Released: 10/19/2010 Full Frame 1.33:1 Just finished watching Santa Baby 2: Christmas Maybe. Another made for tv, this one a sequel to Santa Baby. I enjoyed it about the same as the first one; they're both about the same quality. The one thing that stood out, though, is that George Wendt who played Santa in the first film was replaced by another actor. Having recently watched the first one, that was a bit odd as they were able to get most of the other actors to reprise their roles. I'd give it a 3/5.
