Surely the rule was simply to stop hundreds of updates for tiny changes. If Andy has submitted lots of things, what's the problem? [Ducks]

Of course I was around. I've been around almost since Profiler appeared. That's why I think it's gone too far.

If the RRP is changed even with documentation, but on it's own, then yes; rules violated, bandwidth wasted, teeth being gnashed, Dalek mode engaged. 

Lopek's change should be acceptable when taken with the big picture. What must new users be thinking when they see a thread like this?

Big pictures, little pictures, whatever. The rule obviously needs clarifying and rewriting. The thread is about to tip 10 pages and it looks silly. I've said what I think and I don't even have the damn disc! I'll set you a challenge: one of you resolve this before the next page break, even if it means backing down.

I think that some of you are overlooking the fact that Ken or Gerri or any of the previewers can accept and reject portions of an update now that they have new software on their end.

When we wrote the latest version of the contribution rules, they had to accept all or nothing.

For a single cent difference, keep it in your local and forget about it.

If the rules are designed to avoid numerous profile updates with tiny changes, shouldn't there be rules to avoid meaningless discussions in the forum?

We expect new users to go to the forum and find answers to their questions, and castigate them for asking questions that have been asked before. But you can't blame them for not being able to see the wood through the trees (assuming that's proper English). I mean, 10 pages about 1 cent, and nobody buys or sells DVD's at the SRP price anyway...

As for not contributing, well, as long as you THINK this is your database, then I will not be contributing profiles at least. Unlike you, I keep my perferences LOCAL.
