I just made the monthly update of my database.

I know it's too late for V4, so I post it here for those who are interested. There are few new headshots, but I made a review of all I have in my collection and inhanced the quality (crop to center the headshot, remove texts, inhance contrasts...)

The address.

The file is backupphotos080622.dpb.

I'm not too far off on finishing v4.  Things have been a little slow progress because I've been working some long hours, typically up till midnight.  With my job, I'm either doing nothing for months on end or doing something all day long for months on end.  Guess it evens out and it does pay very, very well.

But the side effect of the current trend of work and not having a real break (even weekends) for the past month is that I'm pretty well burned out.  If I'm not working on the computer for work, I find it hard to do anything that can be considered work on the computer.

I'm going to be taking a 10 day vacation from July 3rd to the 13th.  I'll have v4 out before then.

As I sit here clicking either "Keep Existing" or "Accept New", I came to realize something I need to do for v5.  I need to create multiple copies of my headshot database and import each headshot submission into it's own database.

With v3, I've been keeping just one headshot database but with each database I import, it increases the processing time quite a bit because photos that I imported from previous databases are now being flagged as modified photos (even if they weren't modified at all in the contributers database).

Then once every contributed database is imported, I can back each of them up and import them into my master database without needing to review any.  Yeah, that'll make the process go a hell of a lot faster considering the size of the headshot DB after the last database I imported was 310 MB.

310MB?

Are you still processing new databases?  How many database submissions did you receive?

I'm still doing yours (yes, I know, I've been processing it for awhile now).  Just one more after this from Surfer (his second to go into this batch).

BTW Surfer, most of your cropped headshots to trim off the extra stuff around the head was accepted from your first DB, but some weren't because you cropped too close.

Things are actually progressing now that I've gotten back into the swing of things.  Work's been relaxing a bit on my time so I have more time to do other things which equals less burnout.

Are you speaking of my May release, or the new one in June, four days ago ? Because in the last one, the work on the existing headshots is by far more important.

Hope this isn't to late, but I would like to add this pic of Doris Grau (Voice actor on The Simpsons, The Critic, and guest starred on a few episodes of Cheeres)

Are you sure this will work? - What with the contributions which come back from different sources (asuming they are of different value)?

Regards, AA

BTW: I appreciate the offer to be able to contribute even if there are incorrect birth years in the data base. So I can contribute for v5...

It was an older one, probably May.

Single contributions such as this are fine and can be added at any time during the process.

I have a set of single photos too that I plan on adding after the merges are complete.

I'm not sure I follow concerning "different sources".

My logic is as follows: For each contribution I get for v5, I create a new DVDP database that contains the v4 headshot database in which I import the contribution into.  If I get six contributions, I'll have seven headshot databases, the master and six from the contributions.  Once the contributions are imported, their copy of the v4 database with their additions are all deemed good and proper, fit for release.  I'll create a backup of each of those six databases and then import into my master database.  Since every photo in the ones I'm importing is deemed fit for release, I can blindly accept them all without the need to review - because I already reviewed them.

Not sure it works:

Suppose in V4 you have a very bad photo of Mr Unknown.
Contributor 1 send you an excellent photo of Mr Unknown, you accept it. This excellent photo is in database 1.
Contributor 6 send you a rather bad photo of Mr Unknown, better than that in V4. You have forgotten the one of contributor 1, and accept it. The rather bad photo is in database 6.

If you import blindly database1 than 2 .... then 6, you have the rather bad photo of Contributor 6 that replaces the good one of contributor 1.

Or I missed something ?

Bah, you're right, it won't work with a blind import.

Pitty I don't have a way to query the cast/crew database directory though ODBC/JDBC, I would then be able to identify any headshot that had not been changed and delete it.  Then the blind import would work.

It would also make the distribution files smaller - have a baseline version and then updates.
