Or, at least it will be if Santa Claus can't find a way to guide his sleigh through a fierce blizzard. Fortunately for him, there's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer! Shunned by the other reindeer because of his glowing nose, Rudolph becomes a hero when he guides Santa through the storm and enables him to deliver Christmas presents to all. My Thoughts: This is my all-time favorite Christmas special. It's the one I looked forward to the most as a kid, and the one that always brings the spirit of the season. More than any other, this is the film that is Christmas to me. I also think it's the best of the Rankin-Bass claymation specials. Highly recommended ... but if you haven't seen this, what cave have you been living in? This fresh version of the legendary hero mixes the cool, confident "Bats" (as he's known to his buddies) with high-stakes peril and awesome showdowns for universe-shaking excitement you can't miss! Episode Watched:Invasion of the Secret Santas!After Batman battles the Sportsmaster with Blue Beetle, he teams up with the Red Tornado to battle Fun Haus, who plans to ruin Christmas for everyone with his army of toys. My Thoughts:I decided on the Christmas episode for my first taste of this animated Batman series. Wow... what do I think about this one? It definitely has a different feel to it. I like how the episodes has more (lesser known?) heroes in it. In the beginning of this one The Blue Beetle is with Batman. He seems pretty cool... I think I will like him. but for the majority of this episode it is with the Red Tornado. This is a robotic superhero... and I don't care much for him. I also found it a little odd that Batman actually cracked a few jokes in this episode. So he isn't as dark as I am used to seeing him. Over-all not bad... I definitely enjoyed it. But I am not yet sure what I think of Batman: The Brave and the Bold. My Rating: 3/5 | | | | Pete |

In "The Small One," a young boy discovers the true spirit of the season when he gives his beloved donkey to a very special passenger on a very special night. Then, laughs light up the house when Pluto discovers Chip 'n' Dale living inside "Pluto's Christmas Tree." And in "Mickey's Christmas Carol," everybody's favourite mouse and a host of other Disney characters present their delightful and uplifting adaptation of Dickens' beloved Christmas tale. Your whole family will love every minute of this classic collection of heartwarming holiday stories! My Thoughts: These are all cute cartoons. "The Small One" has perhaps the mark of a great story, because even though I've seen it, even though I know it has a happy ending, I still tear up every time. "Pluto's Christmas Tree" is simply cute. "Mickey's Christmas Carol" is still the best introduction to the classic Dickens tale for small children, and perhaps the best depiction of Scrooge loving money simply for the sake of money. Recommended if you like cartoons. | | Posted: | | | |  Title: Santa Claus Conquers the MartiansYear: 1964 Rating: NR Director: Nicholas Webster Stars: Leonard Hicks, Vincent Beck, Bill McCutcheon, Victor Stiles, Donna Conforti Overview: When the Martians tune into a television broadcast from Earth and feel that their children are being wrongfully influenced by the human image of Santa Claus that's being transmitted, they decide to commit an earth-shaking kidnapping... My Thoughts: I've wanted to watch this ever since I'd heard the title. Sure, I'd read it's one of the worst films ever. And it works hard to live up to that. Seriously, a more hokey, cheesy film I have not seen. It has slightly better production values, costumes & acting than the play I was in in elementary school. But there's also a sort of 'watchability' to it. Sure, it's terrible. But I wouldn't mind watching it again sometime. I haven't laughed so hard in weeks. I couldn't keep a straight face watching this film if my life depended on it. In good conscience, I can't recommend this to anyone. Not one of my "worst films ever," but it's a terrible movie. Okay ... if you like bad, z-grade movies, you'll enjoy this as much as I did. Maybe more. | | Posted: | | | |  Title: Barbie in The NutcrackerYear: 2001 Rating: NR Director: Owen Hurley Stars: Kelly Sheridan, Kirby Morrow, Tim Curry, Peter Kelamis Overview: Barbie magically comes to life through stunning computer animation in this modern adaption of the E.T.A. Hoffmann classic. The tale begins when Barbie, playing the role of Clara, receives a beautiful wooden Nutcracker as a gift from her favorite Aunt. That night, while Clara sleeps, the Nutcracker springs to life to ward off the evil Mouse King who had invaded Clara's parlor. She awakes and aids the Nutcracker, but the Mouse King shrinks her by casting an evil spell. Clara and the Nutcracker set off on a spectacular adventure to find the Sugarplum Princess, the only one who can break the Mouse King's evil enchantment. My Thoughts: Okay, my guilty DVD secret is I have sixteen of the animated Barbie movies... and I don't have kids. Don't even babysit. I'm 35 and they're all mine. I'd try to use the excuse that I have a website where I do feminist critiques of animation, but I haven't kept it up in quite a while. Truth is, I just love cartoons. It's been about four years since I'd watched this one though, and I'd forgotten large sections of it. I remembered it changed the traditional Nutcracker story into more of a traditional fantasy quest, but I'd forgotten the specifics. You can really tell this was the first one they produced, as the later ones have much smoother animation. But I still enjoyed watching this again. What I enjoy most about the franchise is that the women are much stronger, more active characters than you see in most animated features ... and what I dislike most is that they're produced to sell toys. That if I did have a daughter, I couldn't exactly sit down with her to watch this and enjoy watching Clara actually do things and rescue people without having a whine for toys afterward. Ah well. Recommended if you either really like cartoons, or have young girls and want to show them a girly film with an active heroine. | | Posted: | | | | Santa Claus Conquers the Martians: Collector's Edition All Regions Released: 12/30/1899 Full Frame Watched Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Love watching this movie. So cheesy! How can you not enjoy this with those antenna on the Martians? I can only imagine how hard this was to make without cracking up laughing. Love the fight scenes...I don't think even one of the hits ever landed on anyone. Well worth watching for the laughs. | | | | Lori |

Santa gets blown up at a bank. Good episode. This is the one where Zooey Deschanel shows up as Bones' second cousin. Takes place during Christmas and ends up with a Christmas dinner.
