OK first of all, great product great site, and good job, it's been a long while since any official update, this is a pleasant surprise.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before I did do a search someone correct me if I've over looked this.

THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE FEATURE!
There really needs to be a built in native link to a launch a local trailer. - it's an absolute no brainer for making your program the premier if it isn't already.

To support my claim consider the following;

  • Storage space has increased profoundly as has bandwidth many of us download regular as well as HD trailers for movies we own or of coming attractions

  • Doesn't it make sense to everyone else that it would be nice to have a link to launch a trailer that you have stored locally, your default media player could simply open and play it

  • I've read that there are / were certain skins with the old version of DVDP that could play trailers, that constrains us to certain skins/layouts not good, and maybe too difficult for the average end user, native ability to directly launch a trailer would be the coolest feature this program could have in my honest humble opinion

  • I hope others will reply and encourage the developer(s) to include this feature or make a plug in available A.S.A.P.

My collections getting big, close to 1000, I'd hook a trailer up for every single one I could find too.

PS, again I'm looking for the ability to (either turn on or off depending on user preference) a "Play Trailer" button/link that you would could set up very simply by browsing to a common location with the trailer file ETA: C:\MyTrailers\Aliens_HD_Trailer.mov  and the DVDP database would store the information,  ETC.  I'm sure everyone gets the idea, just being thorough.

My compliments again on an outstanding product!

First of all this is a feature request...

And secondly, Who's we? I certainly do not need any trailer playing ability.

Good for you, - thus the ability to enable or disable as I suggested, I do need the ability, as I'm sure many, many others do, I'll look around for a feature request area since you were so polite in your response.........

    Whatever..

Admin/Mod please feel free to move this topic, I wasn't familiar with the forums, I am familiar with the search feature and as I mentioned above didn't find information on my suggestion.

I realize it should of been posted there after looking around further, This is only my third post so hopefully the board enforcement troopers will take it easy on me.    I'm usually a friendly person especially online, I like to represent good will from MCOO.

You definitely haven't been here long! LOL

As a suggestion, how about you enable html in the notes section, and simply add a hyperlink to a locally stored movie file? I'm assuming that's the sort of thing you're after and it wouldn't need any updates to the program.
I'm guessing something along the lines of:
    <a href="file://C:\MyTrailers\Aliens_HD_Trailer.mov">Play Trailer</a>
    should work...

It's a good idea, and I am sure has been mentioned in the past Jonny.
For me the storage needed for so many trailers would be overwhelming.

However as suggested, please put a post in the feature request threads.

    And welcome to the forums

EDIT - sorry - i see you have already posted there

Thats nifty thanks for explanation, I'm actually looking for something from the movie page itself thats usually in the far RH pane, this program absolutely needs the feature I'm requesting, it's  seriously a no-brainier, if someone else(s) didn't think of it yet - they shouldn't nay say out of spite or cynicism's.

Thx again skipnet, you certainly have a considerable post count, especially considering you joined recently, impressive indeed.

AWESOME! thank you for the rational logic richierich, I'm seriously thinking this feature would be a hit, I have HD trailers (many of which are readily available for free download) stored locally, I like the idea of previewing my collection and then having the option to watch the preview to get more enthused or decided to watch it. That feature would be too slick, I cannot put enough emphasis on it. There is a game manager called mediaman that allows you to launch the video games you've added, there are other media managers that allow you to listen to MP3's that you have organized and categorized, etc. This really isn't any different with the arrival of all the free HD trailers and broadband being so common.

Thanks for the welcome again! hospitality rules! IMO.

This can be accomplished yourself by added a link in your Notes section, and then ensuring that HTML for Notes has been turned on.

Edit..oops...would be helpful to read the entire thread before posting....
