hello!

i have a problem that i don't understand...  i cannot download my database back to my pc since i tied to upload a blank database to wipe all the double entries i had in the dvd listing on the web ( supposed to be a known bug..) i installed the latest version of dvd profiler at my job, didn't worked. Same thing at my house and at my girlfirend house.... we can upload the database, but cannot download anything..
also , when i upload the database, it's always says the database it "0" to all entries, but it's uploading fine on the net, but cannot retreive it after it has been uploaded..
the title taht's stuck in the list on the internet in double is "gone with the wind" ...

is there any way to wipe out the complete profile and make it work? or i should PM ken about this?

if anyone have a solution... please help!

Not sure of the problem (and accept it may need a proper fix... another, different empty collection upload?) but I've said it before and I'll say it again... downloading from My Profiler is for use in absolute emergencies, not as a planned activity. That is what Backup and Restore is for.

hello voltaire

of course, i still have the database here on backup, but it's just that the download function isn't avaiable anymore like it used to be before and i don't know why...

because i change some options from here at my job into the database but cannot download it again from home to work on it...
i tried , of course, to upload an empty collection, and this is when ht "gone with the wind" dvd was still displayed online after i uploaded the empty database...

i'm curious to know why... and if i'm the only one here who cannot download his online profile...

Hi all,

I have exactly the same problem. The Upload works, but I can't download the online collection.
Also the dialogue field for the upload shows that I have zero DVD in my online collection. I tried to upload an empty collection, but this didn't help. On the contrary, I have now nearly everything doubled in my online collection, and I can't see a way to get rid of it. Also there are DVDs in my online collection that I sold and removed from my collection, but they still show in the online.
A new install of the program didn't help.

Any suggestions?

I do have a backup, too. So a zero'd online collection would be OK.

Thats probably the problem I'm having - I can upload my collection fine - but I cant "download" and when I "upload" for displaying it online all I get is a blank screen, saying there is "0" there. It was fine until a few days back (and I know Profiler says you cant display your collection online if you have more than 50 DVDs).

Make sure you're uploading to and downloading from only your online collection.  If you attempt to upload to an account which does not have an assigned DVD Profiler Unlimited registration, the upload will not be saved on the server.

Thanks for your answer, Ken.

I do have an unlimited regristration. All other things are working nicely.

I did get an error message the first time after the reinstall. It said something like:

"Couldn't access (write) to C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\Application Data\DVD Profiler\OnlineList.dod"

But this file is there and is accessible.

Please could you further investigate this issue.

Also, if nothing other will help, a deletion of my online collection is no problem. I can upload it again.
Maybe then the issue is gone.

Greetings

To delete your online collection, upload a blank collection.  Select File->Open Database->New Database, then upload that.

Make sure you're uploading to the same user account that you use for the forums.

Hi Ken,

I did upload a blank collection several times. But the online collection still shows all my DVDs. After a blank upload I uploaded my normal collection again, and the program says that evrything worked. But in the preview (where you can see, when your collection was last uploaded) it says evrytime 0 DVDs. But when I access my online collection via a browser, the collection is there.
But after uploading blanks several times and uploading the normal collection again, something has gone wrong. Now I have every DVD doubled in my online collection. And ther are still some DVDs that I sold and removed from my database.

Also, I can't make changes to the options through My Profiler. I changed the view for the online collection. I can change the layout and sort order, but I can't change to sho only the owned DVD. I removed the ticks from the options page and did say "Submit". It says then that my changes were submitted and shows a green hook. So this semms to work. But the changes are not reflecting in the online collection.

And I don't know what you mean by "using the same user account". I have only one account.

Greeting
