OH DEAR!

I am in the process of loading my collection to the data base and on the last opening of the program the full collection list seemed to slip out of the layout.... so i attempted to reload my preferred layout. That did not work properly and i got a whole slew of error messages.
Finally i had to close the program with task manager.  When i try to open the program again I get this error message.... "Control 'dx Dock Colleciton List' has no parent window"  and tho i can get that message to close, the program does not open and is not usable.

SO?  Now what do i do?

Reinstall the program, and reload your database from a backup.

Actually, I think reinstalling will not erase the database. Never tried it, but since it is in a separate directory the db might be unharmed.

Also, can't you hold down the CTRL key when starting the program to get the default layout loaded? I think it was that or ALT or both. Never tried that either.

Well, this was nice speculation, but does not seem to work at all.

Thanks for your suggestion, tho

Well installing over the other program did not work so my next choice is to delete and reinstall.

And for the "nice" person who suggested i did not have a backup ...... you need to hear the joke about Jesus vs the Devil in a wordprocessing contest.

As mentioned above, holding CTRL when loading the application will load the default layout, which should bypass this problem.

OKAY,

I dont know if i did something wrong but the holding CTRL while loading, did NOT work for me.

Also as noted above simply "re-installing" did not work. But after i deleted the program and installed it again the program came back just fine.

As to the Back up problem... when you delete the program you are given a choice, either delete just the porgram or delte the program and data files.... so the data is not changed.

I am back and running.

THANKS to ALL who helped.

From the first post it appears to be a window/layout problem.

I suggest to delete all Layouts (well, move them elsewhere) from the DVD Profiler\Layouts folder. Not sure how the program will react when starting up without any Layout... Anyway, if that still didn't help, I'd try re-installing after that, to make sure that the Layouts in the folder are new and clean.
