Hi i am new here and i want to switch from extreme movie manager to DVDP.
I tried searching the forum on importing but the only thing i can find is how to import a lot of titles by UPC code.

I did and export to txt file within extreme movie manager and found out that i had 4 titles that had an UPC code.
I am trying to find a way to import the DVD`s by title but i guess its not an option.

Also tried to import the UPC codes in extreme movie manager but there is no dutch site where i can import it from.
I did import a few UPC`s from discshop.se but then i get the nordic DVD version and audio etc.

Does the unlimited version have more importing functions as the free version maybe ?

I think entering by title can only be done one by one. Entering by Disc ID requires loading every disc, and that is definitely the slowest manner.
Using the UPC is fastest, whether by barcode scanner, or even by hand.

Entering UPC's can be done one by one, or by making a list and using the plugin that is available.
Is there a reason why you couldn't take the UPC's from the DVD cases?
This is then still a slow process, but once you have your data in, it is easy to maintain, and you have access to a great database.

By the way, for testing the free version, you are limited to 50 DVD's anyway, so 1200 is not a problem (yet).

Good luck...

If your going to type out the UPC...Why not do it straight into DVDP via the Add New DVD...By UPC/EAN code (first tab on the add new DVD screen)...it will save you then importing a txt file.

Hmm movie collectorz can import titles from a txt file and lookup the UPC code yay.
All i have to do now is selecting the right dvd and export a batch.

Still a lot of work but better as typing.

snarbo that is an option too but its easier to do it in a txt/excel file because it saves me a few enters and clicking.
Now i can just use the numpad and enter.

The advantage of entering the UPC's into DVD Profiler is that you have the ability to see right away if you typo'ed the entry.  Of course, the disc could also simply not exist yet in the database.

Get one! Really, a Cuecat (preferable declawed) should be available for 20€ or so, even if you don't ever use it again, the time you save (not to mention the accuracy) on entering 1200 title should worth this few Talers.

I second what Mithi says. I got one off Amazon for about 15 bucks american. If you don't find one there try Ebay. Definitely worth it. I wish I would've had one when I converting over from my Access database to DVDVP.

How is it easier using a batch file that you will create yourself.
1. Open notepad/Excel
2. Type in the UPC
3. Type in the next UPC
4. When all 1200+ typed in save file.
5. Start DVDP
6. Install Plugin to allow you to import from txt file
7. import via a third party program into DVDP
possible more steps as I have never added via a txt import?

Using DVDP
1. Open DVDP
2. Select ADD DVD
3. Using NUMBER KEYPAD type in UPC
4. Repeat 3 until 1200+ entered
5. CLICK ON ADD NOW
done no third party software involved

So how is using DVDP harder to use than typing out a txt file to import into DVDP.

I don't know for sure how it is in your country, but declawed cuecats are not something you pick up in any hardware store...

Wait until you discover a mistake and have to start all over again? A .txt file or excel file allows some error checking before you do the actual conversion. That's why the plugin is so appreciated.

Have you tried the UPC Import Utility?  Not sure if it will work with DVD Profiler 3.0, but it might.

Of course it works with DVDProfiler 3 (it's a plugin), but it imports profiles by UPC, which the OP doesn't have for his titles yet.

And prey tell me how notepad or Excel knows that you've typed a UPC incorrectly?
Excel like word will flag up a word that appears incorrectly spelt as far as its concerned normally a RED UNDERLINE but it does not know if you meant to type
123456789012 instead of 123456789011.

Whereas if your typing directly into DVDP it will flag underneath the window if it recognises the UPC or not..or do I look at a totally different screen to everybody else when I type in a UPC/EAN?

What's a 'hardware store'? Is this like Ebay with a building you go to and people in it? We had those, back when I was young, shortly after the war ...
