Check out this website, www.grocist.com.  This is a grocery list site.  You register and create your grocery list by using a barcode scanner to scan items you want to add to your grocery list.  I bought another barcode scanner and attached it to an old laptop and put it on my kitchen counter for this purpose.  You can manually type in items that do not have a barcode or items you don't actually have but want to add to your list. 

I have read reviews of people saying that it would not work because they may want a differetn brand or flavor, but that has not been a problem for me.  If I have have Keebler chocolate chip cookies on my list and I decide when I get to the store on another flavor or brand, no big deal.  I get what I want.

What I really like about it is that the list is online, and I can print it from anywhere I can get online with a printer.  Now I can print my list from work since I would usually forget my hand written list at home and would have to make a second trip to the store to get what was on the list.
