It'll be kinda a moot point buying a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray disc because you won't be able to view the extra detail provided by the HD format. With a standard TV, you can't even view the full format of a DVD so it's best to hold off on the HD-DVD & Blu-Ray - even more so since they can cost over $10 more than their DVD counterpart. |

| | Posted: | | | | It's absolutely not pointless. HD-DVDs (and BluRay of course) have superior transfers most of the times, which are cleaner (less dirt and dropouts etc), virtually no compression artifacts, better colors etc. This evens shows on standard PAL (or NTSC) tvs. |
