Is there a way to change the purchase date default from the date of DVD input to date of release?  I am adding my collection and find it to be a remarkably cumbersome process to change the purchase date from "today's" date to the date the DVD was released.

I actually searched and tried to find the answer to this question before posting, so please forgive this newbve if the answer is out there some where.

If nothing elese, is there a way to change the dates on a batch basis?

You can't change the default, but when you're in Personalise, if you click the calendar icon next to the date field it automatically changes it to the DVD release date.
You still have to do them one at a time though.

I'm confused.  There's already a field in the profile for release date.  Why would you want to duplicate that date in the Purchase Date field?

I pressume he is filling in all the dates for titles that he had before he used DVDP. I did a similar exercise at the start - I bought most of my DVDs on the day they were released, so lacking the actual info, I set all my unknown early purchase dates to the release date. Not 100% accurate, but better than no info imo.

I can see it would be handy to be able to complete these all in a batch.

That's actually a good idea.. I originally set all my unknown purchase date to the day I started using DVD Profiler (which happens to be the day I entered everything into it), but it makes much more sense to use the release date. Sure it's duplicate data, but when you analyse data (purchase trends, etc) all those 200+ titles that use a specific day skewers the data.. hmmm

Why didn't I think of that before...

Andy,

Good supposition. I hadn't tought about not having purchase dates for discs bought before you had DVDP.  This wasn't a problem for me, becuse even though I didn't know anything about DVDP, I did record when I bought DVDs after the firstr couple I bought.  So maybe I didn't have a true purchase date for about 3 profiles.

Reason I had the purchase dates?  I got into that habit when I started cataloging my LPs - carried it over to CDs - and naturally to DVDs.  But your and Ross' explanations make a lot of sense to me.

That's exactly why I wanted to make the change.  I use the purchase date to sort my DVDs to see which of my newer purchases I haven't watched yet.  I am loading my existing collection for the first time and, even though I didn't always buy a dvd on its release date, at least that date is closer than the input date.

Since I am unable to make that change in batches, is there a shortcut to move from the personalize screen of one DVD to the personalize screen of the next DVD without exiting the personalize screen?
