Well, it may seem odd to ask about grammar in this forum, but it is DVD related, so...

I often see a phrase like this when loading a DVD:

"The contents of this Digital Video Disc..."

Now, maybe it just because English is not my native language that I think that this sounds wrong, but in my opinion a container - in this case a DVD - can only have one content. Whatever the DVD contains, that is its content. Singular.

Am I mistaken in this?

It sounds fine to me.  The disc can contain multiple main features, bmous features, commentaries, text, etc.  So I have no problem with "contents"

But although English is my native language, it was always one of my weakest subjects in school.  So I have no idea is I'm right or not.

Shouldn't it be "Digital Versatile Disc"?...

Dan,
You've convinced me. I guess it's just a difference between English and Swedish grammar that makes this sound wrong to me.

Berak,
I guess you're  right. I'm old and senile...
