In some of my DVD's its accepted to use "Widescreen Collection" (the Paramount ones). When a DVD is part of a series of DVD's with that same subscript it is accepted as an edition. I don't know if the same is true for this one but it doesn't look that way to me.

Not that i'm saying it's based on any rule; it's just something I notice and it may or may not clarify the situation to you :-)

I don't own this DVD, but if it was the case and I had to vote you just had to enter "Widescreen Presentation" and you get my "yes". I didn't vote on the poll since the option without the "A" is not there.

Just look at the poll result, but I have to disagree with the voter. Widescreen is an edition this is what the rules say about this :

"The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions and collections (for example The Criterion Collection, Widescreen, Full-Screen Edition). It's usually safe to use one of the built-in selections if appropriate. If you are using a non-standard description, take it from the DVD box, and ensure it will help distinguish between different releases of the same title."

Are you suggesting that there is another release to distinguish the two?

No Skip, since I don't own the DVD. But, if the first criteria for using the edition field was for distinguish between release no Criterion or paramount or SWV release will use this field. But I don't want to turn this to a 10 page argument since this is not really a big deal for me.

Nuff said...

But I would only use Widescreen (and the like) in the Edition field when the wording clearly indicates a 'collection' or 'edition', such as Paramount's "Widescreen Collection". In this case, I would be inclined towards no Edition but it surely sits in a gray zone.

I voted for "A Widescreen Presentation" but if you decided not to put one at all I wouldn't mind that either. You don't have to put an edition if you don't want to.
