| Posted: | | | | No, not available R2 but there is a Commando - Definitive Edition (2 disc) on Play with no info and no release date as yet
I have seen a post on another forum from someone (in the UK) who has it. I am copying their post here; I hope they won't mind!
I watched the directors cut at the weekend. The new transfer is surprisingly very good. There is about 5 minutes of extended stuff in the film which didn't do a lot to change the dynamic of the film unsurprisingly but we do learn a little bit more about Matrix former missions and his relationship with his daughter. There's a bit more gore and blood splattering around generally and the tool shed scene is a lot more fun.
Special features are light but enjoyable, a couple of new short featurettes about the making of the film with interviews with the writer, director and some of the actors, Bill Duke, Rae Dawn Chong and Vernon Wells ("Bennett knows where you live"). The director commentary is serviceable but not as great as one hoped, still worth a listen if you really like the film however and want to hear some more facts. Three deleted scenes in good anamorphic quality, including Matrix reeling off numerous alternative final quips in response to Bennett's death. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong | | | Last edited: by Voltaire53 |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks alot Voltaire... Now I really can't wait until tomorrow (hopefully it will arrive).. This has to be one of the best senseless action-flicks from the 80's (oh, sweet nostalgia) - and by the looks of it it just got better... | | | Berak

| Posted: | | | | Are you sure you are getting five minutes in the director's cut? Here in region 1 the director's cut is only 96 seconds longer then the theatrical cut. just curious... | | | The artist formerly known as TylerDurden_73 |

| Posted: | | | | With the shipping debacle with the last Harry Potter book and people getting it before the release date if they were near to the shipping center (1 day vs 3), I wouldn't be surprised if any ships before the release date any more. |

| Posted: | | | | Don't know about five minutes but the UK version had quite a few scenes cut compared to the version released just about anywhere else in the world first time round. That's why I ended up getting the French version as it was the same as the original US release, but was also anamorphic. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | With all the crappy remakes going on around Hollywood, if I were running a Studio I would be all over this one.
Matrix - The Rock (possibly Jason Statham.. last resort Vin Diesel) Cindy - Sydney Tamiia Poitier (or maybe Rosario Dawson, Gina Torres, Alicia Keys, Bai Ling, Gong Li, so many choices.) Arius - Christopher Walkin Jenny - Jessica Alba or Rachel McAdams or Summer Glau (okay, if she has to be young then pretty much take your pick of any young up-in-comer, small part anyway) Bennet - Karl Urban (or possibly Peter Stormare) Sully - John C. Reilly (maybe Jeremy Piven or Michael Rooker)
I still love the original, but damn I'd be first in line for a remake with the above. | | | "Rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men" - Douglas Bader "A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools." - Douglas Adams |
