| | Posted: | | | | Just want to check in case i have missed something i have just contributed a profile for one of these disc's has i don't have a HD player yet i contributed all the info from the DVD side i have got a no vote saying that we don't profile the DVD side only the HD DVD side is this right? i would have thought that you profile the entire disc not just one side or should you treat it like a box set and create a separate profile for the DVD side using the disc ID. |

To be honest, Nick, you are the first person to my knowledge who ever bothered with a DVD child profile for a combo disc. * Edition, if the DVD cut is the "Unrated and Unprotected" one - leave it. * Case type, well it does come in the "HD Slim" case... The main things to change would be: The region (DVD side is regionally encoded), audio tracks which differ a lot from the HD side, same with the subs. And anamorphic, since HD disc are not (native 16x9). | | | Erik

| | Posted: | | | | Agree with Erik. It's the nature of a profile that it can't profile both HD and DVD content in one profile without rendering the combined information rather useless. The DVD format box does have value so that one can filter for HD DVD and DVD Combos, but aside from that, any DVD-specific info that's entered in the HD DVD profile really mucks things up (regions, video and audio formats are all different and incompatible, for example).
I've never checked to see if there were Disc ID profiles for the DVD side as I don't personally care to track it, but you could create one as a child profile to the master HD DVD profile if you wish. | | | ...James
