When you have a TV series that has 2 disc's in a THINpak (6 Disc's 3 THINpak's) should you do six child profiles (One per disc) or should you do 3 child Profiles (One per THINpak)

I prefer to have only one profile per serie/season no matter how many discs it's on.

Agree with Martin. I'll never understand why someone would use child profiles for TV series in the first place.

To use the watched by feature.

If you are going to make child profiles for TV Series... the rules answers this question...

From TV Series Rules:
Quote:
Individual profiles for each disc may be submitted if desired, but this is not required. Add these profiles to the box set contents of the parent profile.

so if you are doing the child profiles for TV Series... it says right there to do it per disc... packaging would have nothing to do with it.

I agree... it helps a lot with the watched by feature... I also like to have the cast and crew broken down into more manageable lists.

And how is that different then having one profile for the season? It either makes sense to have the ability to mark each episode alone as watched, or a season set (IMO).
This is why I track episodes in my CCViewer (where I have a "Watched by" per episode) and only have one profile in DVD Profiler for the season sets.

Hey Tom... makes just as much sense to me to mark disc at a time. For me I usually watch no less then one disc at a time (unless I am doing one of my marathons)... and then I might put the set up for a good long while before going back to it. So the watched by per disc helps me out a lot... letting me know exactly where I left off.

It also depends on the package type. I have different series that are packed in slimecases and every slimcase uses another cover.

i thought this was a question on how to submit the profiles not another opening for the debate about whether or not single disc profiles were useful to whom for whatever reason...

As Pete says, either one profile for the whole set, or one for each disc as well. I've never seen any other occasion where packaging is used to define the profile, so I don't think it's relevant here either.

Amen to that. The only exception for me is if it's a complete series set - then I'll have child profiles for each individual season.

I have one profile per disc because at some point, I hope to have a menu system where I can drill down into the box sets to select a disc to play.

What if a season box set includes six discs in three cases ("volumes" 1 to 3) and each case has a UPC of its own? Would you create profiles for both the season box set (by UPC), the three  volumes (by UPC) and the six discs (by Disc IDs)?

Something like:

Season# box set (UPC0)
  - Volume1 (UPC1)
      -- disc 1
      -- disc 2
  - Volume2 (UPC2)
      -- disc 3
      -- disc 4
  - Volume3 (UPC3)
      -- disc 5
      -- disc 6
-- Enry
