In this case, Sofidoc seems to be the primary production company (e.g. according to BFI and movies.yahoo.com), and that's a Belgian company. There are indeed both Belgian and French companies involved.
You are quite right there is a problem with international co-productions. In the Feature Requests forum you will find several requests to fix this, preferably using a list of checkboxes as is already the case for Subtitles. |

Finding the "main" production company can itself be a difficult task resulting in fights and arguments. |
