| | Posted: | | | | What sort of dpi should i be aiming at? i am gonna be putting on quite a few covers soon so i wanna make em good. i have before used 300-400 dpi. is this OK? | | Posted: | | | | If you plan on contributing your image, 200 or 300 will be fine and then you'll want to reduce it down to 500x700 max as well as 200,000 bytes max (195.3k).
If it's for your own personal database, whatever makes you happy. Personally, I don't see much point in going over 200 dpi for personal scans because it'll always have to be reduced back down for display on your monitor. If your scanner doesn't provide a descreening function (makes those colored dots on high dpi scans less, um, dotty), scan at 300 dpi min so the resize process can make the scan look normal on screen. |

All of my covers are scanned at 800, some use 300, 600, one even 1200.

| | Posted: | | | | dpi isn't the most important aspect of getting good scans. A good scanner set at 300dpi can easily beat an inferior scanner set at 600dpi. Experiment with your scanner settings and see what turns out the best.  | | | | Corey |
