I bought Death Proof from play.com (The one with the cards) - this has another UPC number than the one already registered in the database. The DVD itself is the same - even the disc ID (inserted the DVD in my PC drive) just the UPC number is slightly different.

Problem is - I'm always using my barcode scanner to identify the DVD's.. This will now not find the same dvd.

The one in the database : UPC : 5-060116-722253
"My" UPC : 5-060116-722987

- any suggestions? I don't really think it is reasonable to duplicate this DVD just to alter the UPC - do you guys?

I would submit it with the new UPC.  It's really fairly common, I believe.  And having both UPC's in the db will help others who are trying to add by UPC.

remember - to save yourself time you can download the current profile, change anything that needs changing to make it match your dvd, then change the upc code and resubmit using the new number.
Also remember to say this in your notes when you submit

I would have thought that was pretty much covered in the: "change anything that needs changing to make it match your dvd" comment.

Steinart,

this is actually quite common with Limited or Exclusive Editions, such as the one you got from Play.Com.

You can enter that fact into the Edition field of the profile, marking it as "Play.com Exclusive Edition" (that's what Play calls them IIRC).

In the features section, enter the set of exclusive collector's cards (maybe even the exact number if you like) under "other features".

That way, everybody searching for this DVD by title search will be able to recognize both versions and will have the chance to compaqre the different editions available before bying if they want.
