Hi,
I'm new to this, so I apologize if I'm uninformed.  Does anyone know if this software has a plugin for scanning in VHS tapes?  I have an extensive video collection consisting of both VHS & DVD's.  I'd love to use the DVD profiler to manage my VHS tapes, too.

I wish I could afford purchasing 1,000 DVD's to update my collection, but alas, I still have to work for a living

Thanks for any help on this!

You don't need a plugin, You can profile your VHS tapes or whatever you want) in DVD profiler locally if you wish just don't contribute it unless its a retail dvd (you need to purchase the software to contribute anyway). But there wont be any media type for VHS. If you do enter these profiles you have 2 ways, use a manual profile (manual profiles can't be contributed) or just download a profile for the same movie and make changes locally (again, don't contribute these changes. and you probably want to lock the fields) to signify its a VHS and match that data. Since there is no VHS media, using tags to mark the titles as VHS and/or putting VHS into the edition is probably the best bet (putting it in the edition field would allow it be be easily seen when viewed with the rest of your collection).

But don't expect to see any official support of VHS, and I'm not even sure if its really something that a) can be handled by a plugin and b) if any plugin developer would spend time to do it if it was.

The Programme is called DVD Profiler.

There are other programs available to catalogue VHS/Beta/Laser Disc/CD's etc.

You could mark the VHS at the start of your overview. And as Agrare indicated keep it all localy in your database. Add the dvd by title will probably work the best to find the correct movie for your locality.
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.
