For about a dozen new profiles (data and images), for which both the data and images were accepted and released, the images do not show up in the online database.

They are not offered to download, they do not show up in Preview Image Changes.

When I try to re-contribute just the images (checking the box in Contributing DVD Profile of course), the following page does not show the images either. Is this because I am making no other changes at that time?

No it is not.
  • Select the title with cover you want to update.
  • In the General Info Window right click on the light grey hand supported dvd icon (on the right of the EAN/UPC or Disc-ID)
  • Pop-up window shows contribute/never contribute
  • select contribute
  • In the next pop-up window mark [v] Include cover scans
  • Press [contribute]
  • Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Exactly what I did of course, but then I get "no changes detected" (or worse, just a request to confirm removal of the release date).

As if the image is in hte online after all, but somehow does not show. I even changed layouts to verify, in case the comparison function is not working properly (as per release date...).

One such a profile is 5019322212249. Would someone check whether this accepted image is in the database?

I just downloaded that profile... It did download with a cover. both front and back cover looked to be the same. Like for a pre-release. Is this what you did? If so then it is definitely there.

This particular profile is a box set, with front and back covers exactly the same.
So my problem is local, the image updates don't show up here.

Thanks for helping me pinpoint the issue.

Did a database repair, cleaned the image directory, removed temporary internet files, all to no avail.
Did not clean the registiry, since I do not see how that connects, and don't want to cause more problems.

Just tried this on another computer, and have the same problem!

What is new in my configuration is that my internet provider replaced the modem/router. Is it possible that some specific ports need to be opened?

makes no sense to me, the upload is OK. Those profiles are in your online? When adding a title can you preview it and see the covers? can you access these from your browser?

Thanks for pointing that out. The profiles are in my online, and show the new images. This gives me an independent way to check that the uploads succeeded.

Whenever I do an image comparison of any old or new profile, the program does not go online to check but immediatlely show aan empty page (two red crosses) under New Images.
I did a refresh all images, and occasionally (just after starting the program) the program makes one proper comparison. After that, same behaviour. I turned off the firewall in my modem.

I'll leave this for the moment. The update to 3.5 will change most behaviours anyway, and I will do that as soon as the working of plugins is guaranteed.

As to your second question, when I attempt an upload, the images are not shown in the preview (likely because they are considered to be unchanged?).

Same Vista on both computers? Are you surfing on the providers proxy? Have you something special in your network? Or if both computers, do they show a gateway between you and the internet when you look at your Net Connections? Most likely the Gateway should not be there if you are in a home environment.

You got me wrong. from menu DVD add a title to your collection, before you do that you can preview the profile and look at the covers, you don't have actualy to download the profile. Lets say add EAN 8712626023333 to your collection (X-files season box 1-9) you should see the covers in preview.

If I add a completely new profile, everything is okay.

My present PC uses Vista, I checked on an older one with XP SP2. There is no proxy involved (but I need to check that again).
Most likely something goes wrong when profiles are compared locally. I think the empty page only shows up when the two images are actually the same. Also when the new profiles are offered for download, it does not show new images if they are actually the same (but it does show the profile itself with "No cahnges detected").
This means there is actually no harm done. Both the local profile and the Invelos database (and even my online) are in order.
