Hi,

i recentley bought the blu-ray of Shooter from the UK. The profile says is has english, german, italian and a commentary track. It also says it has a trillion subtitles. All that data is backed up by the discs backcover (on the profile and on my disc here), yet my disc does not contain a german or italian language track, instead it has a french track and most of the subtitles are missing.
Normally i would have changed it and resubmitted it, but while submitting i saw, that the current profile is from one year ago, so i was wondering, if this might be some kind of re-release with altered content under the same upc?

Regards
Stefan

No guarantees, but to my knowledge there has been no re-release of Shooter on BD, it would be pretty unusual for a re-release to involve just changes in the Audio/Subtitle area. Based on the best information I have available i think the title simply has not been updated to reflect the actual data.

I show a 5/20/2008 Region 1 release date.
Again based on the Region 1 data hear are the Audio/Sub specs as they appear on the back cover
Audio:
ENGLISH: Dolby Digital 5.1 [CC]
SPANISH: Dolby Digital 5.1
FRENCH: Dolby Digital 5.1
Subtitles:
English,English SDH, Spanish, French

@MiDian:

Looks like you bought a US-import. You should check the article description at your shop if it says anything about being an import. If not, then try to return it and ask for the real UK-Disc.
But if you just overlooked the description that it is an US-import... bad luck, sorry.

It does seem there's something odd going on with that profile - SpaceFreakMicha may be right.

According to the profile it was released 13 Sep 2007, but Paramount announced exclusivity to HD DVD in August 2007, so it's very unlikely that they would have released a blu-ray a month later.

And all the information I've been able to dig up about the UK release refers to a release date of Sept 2008, not 2007.

Same here, although I also find several threads that indicate there was a limited Shooter Blu-ray release prior to Paramount announcing their HD exclusive stance.

An example

Not sure if this was something they did in both the US & UK, but it may be the first entry is legitimate. Although the release date entered is odd and I can't see why they'd change the specs if they had a master already.

Hmm interessting. The shop says nothing about import, but i checked the us-bd and it has the exact same specs, as my new UK-disc (it seems to be a UK/european disc though and not the us-disc, because it has the european ratings, as well as australian, printed on the cover and the disc) but upon searching, i found a comment on a news-site (http://www.dvdactive.com/news/releases/shooter4.html first comment) that in addition to lithurge post made me think about it...
Paramount was BD, then jumped to HD-DVD and once it was gone, the went back to blu-ray. So i'd guess, the current profile is the very limited first-run bd from before they went hd-dvd and now since the are blu again, they just did one blu-ray for all regions (it has Code ABC printed on the back) and failed to adjust the cover accordingly. That would be the new one i just bought.
I guess since we enter only the first release, i shouldn't update the profile then.

Regards
Stefan

The US blu-ray of Shooter was supposed to be released 31 July, a month before they went exclusive. That would explain why it vanished from the market.
I'm thinking maybe the UK blu-ray was entered as a pre-release because they intended to release it in September, but because of the deal it never happened.

One way that might clear it up is to contact whoever submitted the profile in the first place and ask them!

As stated above, this was supposed to come out but didn't due to the Paramount deal with HD DVD; but there obviously were discs pressed, and some of them may have gotten out (like the Paramount HD DVDs of the Jack Ryan Collection) to reviewers, etc.  They may have revised the disc for the proper release, having learned more about the process during the intervening year (as I recall, their BD inventory was slated for destruction when they went HD DVD-exclusive).  Just conjecture, though.

What is your player and it's settings? Some Blu-Ray releases in multiple counties are affected by the settings of the player and change what you get on the menu and options.

For example the JP and US release of  Batman: Gotham Knight appears to be the same disc in the US and Japan.  However, Depending on if you have your main language of the player set to English or Japanese you get different menu and audio tracks.  When the player is set to English the Japanese Audio is locked and can not be selected from the menu or audio tracks.

I'm not 100% sure but i think this did get a limited release in 2007, there was this thread on AVForums
where people were trying to get it as it was very rare the first post links to the American Blu-ray but there are post's further along that state that they have seen it in there local stores, and if its any help find-dvd shows a release date of 13 August 2007
