| Posted: | | | | I acquired a Toshiba Pocket PC yesterday (long story). The absolute only use I will have for it is DVD Profiler mobile, but that will be very nice. However, I have had a bit of an installation problem. Here is what I did, in order, maybe someone can tell me what to do/what went wrong: - downloaded latest version of ActiveSync from Microsoft & installed it - downloaded DVD Profiler Mobile -- installed it -- got an error message about the Microsoft CN or Net thing that installs first saying that it was not made for my device -- Mobile installed and appears on my Pocket PC HOWEVER, it does not do anything. You click on it with the stylus and nothing comes up. Nothing launches, it does nothing. Is this because of the error message with the Microsoft thingie? Also, nothing appears on my desktop. Is something supposed to appear on my desktop somewhere, or only on the Pocket PC? Anyway, thanks for any help in advance. Will be headed to work now, and will try to implement any suggestions when I get home. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

Can you give the model of the device? |

| Posted: | | | | It is a Toshiba Pocket PC e355.
I do indeed find DVD Profiler Mobile in my Program Files folder, thank you for telling me to look there. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | Okay - I've definitely discovered the problem. It's the .Net Compact Framework. The 1.0 installed just fine. But the 2.0 did not install. This is the error message I get: Quote: Microsoft .NET CF 2.0 failed to install on your device because the installation file is not intended for this version of the device. DVDpm finally did something when I clicked on it after I got 1.0 installed. It gave me a message saying it needed a newer version of the .NET CF. Which I suppose is better than the nothing it did previously. Is there anything I can do at this point to make it install? | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | If you look in the DVD Profiler Mobile directory, search the subdirectories in it looking for any CAB file that starts with or contains ARM. Copy them to the device and install from the device. I can't say which one of them may or may not work because I don't have the app installed on my laptop but the worst thing that can happen is that it says it won't install.
Well, the worst thing that could happen is that you'll need to perform a factory reset so if you have anything on it that you don't want to lose, back it up.
Oh, when prompted to install on the main memory or storage card (if any), never pick the storage card for these apps. |

| Posted: | | | | I just remembered that one of the sites I read mentioned that the device has a stripped down version of the OS - that may be your problem.
It's a long shot but see if Toshiba has a support site for the device and if they have a ROM update available which will upgrade the OS. |

| Posted: | | | | Doesn't seem like there's a firmware update for your device to upgrade the OS. The only mention I was able to find was that there isn't one. |

| Posted: | | | | I think I will try calling Toshiba's customer support tomorrow - it's my day off, so I'll be able to do things from home where I'll have everything in front of me. Maybe they'll have some suggestions... | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |
