Hi,

I'm unable to get the iPhone app to connect. PC is Windows 7 Home Premium, using an iPhone 4, latest firmware (non-jailbroken) and DVD Profiler 3.7.0 build 1426.

I have tried connecting usung the IP address as well as the computer name with both the standard port and 8080.

DVD Profiler shows it is sharing at the bottom of the window.

Going through the forums for clues as to the problem, I have tried switching off the Windows firewall and also tried in Windows safe mode with networking. DVD Profiler access through the firewall.

If I switch the DVD Profiler sharing option to 'Grant access to any computer' I get a failed connection test.

I should also mention that I also tried the standard connection setup using my work PC, Windows 7 Professional, but also failed to connect there.

I'm out of ideas athis this point, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

You have no other firewalls active? Maybe your router?
Another person mentioned that his router was programmed to block the wireless from accessing the wired network....

Btw. there is a new version out for the desktop version, v3.7.1. build 1430

Hi Izo,

Thanks for the quick reply.

I don't think it's the router, as the PC and iPhone are both on the same local network, it shouldn't be an issue. The app presumably looks on the local network for the PC running DVD profiler?

I haven't tried the latest beta yet, I didn't spot anything in the notes that might solve the issue. I'll try it later.

Still I think you should check your router, it has often proven to be the cause of not being able to connect...
As said it could be that wireless and wired are blocked from having access to eachother. Still the router will use one DHCP server and thus will all devices get an IP within the same subnet.

Quick update...
I now have it working and the problem was that DVDProfiler was picking up the IP Address of ReadyNAS Remote, a program that lets me access my NAS when not at home. Rather embarassing as I didn't spot the issue sooner!
As ReadyNAS Remote was installed on my work PC also, it's why I couldn't sync there either.
