It's not as simple as capturing a frame from a DVD, due to the advanced copy protection restrictions. If you try to capture a screen with a Blu-ray, it'll simply turn out blank. | | | | Corey |

1. Use AnyDVD HD to decrypt the Blu-ray -- The program has a free 21-day trial after which it's something like $165 for a lifetime subscription (it used to be a lot cheaper) or less if you go with the 2 year subscription.
2. Open the Blu-ray folder and find the file for the movie (usually under the "Stream" subfolder)
3. Drag that folder into PowerDVD
4. While the movie plays, use the "C" key to capture a frame
There's other ways of doing it (you do have to have AnyDVD HD to do it, though IIRC) but that's how I know it. | | | | Last edited: by The Movieman |

Like has been said, you have to circumvent the B-rD information restrictions first, with SlySoft's AnyDVD HD or DVDFab's Blu-ray Copy (or Passkey for on-the-fly decryption). I got that method to work for screenshots from the film, but it looks like it doesn't work for obtaining a screenshot of a Blu-ray's menu screen. You can open the menu from the Stream subfolder, but it just shows up as a blank menu screen without any buttons/options. BD-Java restrictions I guess? Thanks all for the other replies... Yeah, unfortunately I don't know how to get the menu. I think the way Blu-ray.com does it is they have some sort of software or machine that it runs through or something. |
