| Posted: | | | | Hello. I've a question. What's the correct entry for the Edition for contributions to the online database for this? Thanks - Paul | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

I voted Widescreen Collection Special Collector's Edition. |

| Posted: | | | | If it's a european DVD, I'd leave the "Widescreen Collection" out because this whole selling DVDs in 4:3 and Widescreen is - IMHO - mostly a US phenomenon.
Even though it took years to establish 16:9 TVs in Germany I can't really remember a case where the same movie was sold as 4:3 on one DVD and 16:9 on another.
And yet it says "Widescreen Edition" on every other cover. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | In that case, with us not getting all these studio fullscreen releases, I would simply use Special Collector's Edition. |

| Posted: | | | | So there's no fullscreen to worry about? If not, I'd leave out the widescreen in interests of space. If so, it does need to be in there. |

| Posted: | | | | If putting the widescreen Collection in the Edition field, I would first list the Collector's Edition and the collection. Imho it makes more sense to put that thing that refers to the movie/DVD at first place and that thing that marks it as part of a collection in second place. For better readability I'd prefer some kind of seperator. Colon or Hyphon. | | | Last edited: by VirusPil |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for that. It looks like everyone's in agreement then... What we need are two Edition fields... When's version 3.9 due? I feel a bit of a Luddite not asking about dimensions or colo urs. | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? Guttermouth "Lemon Water". | Posted: | | | | That looks exactly like the US version which does have a FS. If no FS exists for the locality, then I agree the WS banner is meaningless. |

There is no Full Screen version for the United Kingdom. Only Widescreen versions for Retail and Rental. http://www.bva.org.uk/node/505776 | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

While I agree that this makes sense and fits the requirements of the Rules, to use this approach in general it would require anyone who has any film with an Edition of some sort, to be able to check if there are other versions of it for that Locality. This requires a degree of knowledge and effort that most people don't have and probably won’t make, so it's not really very helpful as a general approach to this kind of issue. The Rules should be usable without someone having to go away and research things. | | | Do you ever find yourself striving for perfection with an almost worthless attempt at it? What I mean is this: If someone contributes "Widescreen Collection: Special Collector's Edition" then that's fine. But if the next guy comes along and says "Widescreen Collection" is useless because ..., then one should trust his judgement and not stubbornly refer to the cover and deny any change. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
