All of a sudden today all I get is a green screen on my HDTV when I try to watch a movie via my Blu-ray player.

Both the cable box and BR player are connected with HDMI cables. The cable works fine. I even switched the cables on the back of the TV and still a green screen from the BR player.

What do you think the problem is, the HDMI cable or the BR player?

Did you completely swap cables between the BR and the cable box or just switch one end (input to the TV, for example)?  If you still get the green screen using two completely different cables and both TV inputs it almost has to be the BR player.

1) Try unplugging the BR player power from the wall, leave it unplugged for an hour or two, letting all residual power drain from the internal electronics.  Then plug it it back in and see if it works. I've had this correct anomalous problems in the past (it is something of a hail mary.)

2) While the BR is unplugged Google the terms "green" "Blu ray"  and "<insert your player manufacturer>".  Hopefully you aren't the first to encounter this.
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Just the cable inputs on the back of the tv.

I'll disconnect the BR player power cord for an hour or so and see if that works.

Did a search on green screen HDMI and it looks like it maybe a cable problem. Thinking about buying a 2-pack of Dynex HDMI cables from Best Buy and seeing if that fixes the problem.

If not, then looks like I may have to buy a new player.

First guess would be a defective cable.
So check what happens if you connect the player to your TV with a known working cable (e.g. the one from your cable-box).

Another cause might be an interrupted Firmware-Update, depending on your Hardware this error might be fatal.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

#1 worked.

But just to play safe I think I'll switch out the cable as the one I have now is a cheap Big Lots brand one.

Is Dynex a good brand?

Glad to here that.

Never heard of Dynex.

Most of my cables are from Amazon (there own brand IIRC) which are inexpensive and never caused a problem.

I got mine from, I think, NewEgg.com years ago and have yet to have a problem. But looking at Amazon, they have great prices so that would be the best place to go.

Dynex is a BestBuy brand and as far as I know only sold at BestBuy and FutureShop.
