Use the "count as" field in the "personalize DVD" menu. You will need to set the count for each profile.

Hi I am a new member

I have the almost same issue. I have 25 movies added but the count states only 2.   does the above solution fixed this issue as well?  Also what is the difference between the count and the collection number and count as.  I have tried both and seems to give me over 100 + movies which I only have added 25 do far. Last How to I count multiple moves in one case like matrix collection 4 discs in one case.

thanks dave

Yes

Counter: Gives the total of all filtered Profiles, depending on the "Count As" Value
Coll #: The number the profile has in your collection. This can be personalized
Count As: Sets how often this profile should be counted in the Counter, can have any value between 0 and infinite -1

This depends on your personal preferences.
Several approaches are possible, here are the two most common.

Movie count: The parent-profile gets no Collection Number and a "Count As" of 0, the children get a "Count As" of 1 and a Collection Number according to your personal preferences

Purchase Unit count: The parent profile gets a Collection Number and a "Count As" of 1, the children get no number and a "Count As" of 0
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

So the parent profile is the movie i added to the database?  I just changed the matrix collection to count as 3 meaning  3 movies but have the collection count number as 24. IS that how i want to do this?

Not sure what you are doing there.

Normally, when adding a boxset (parent-profile) by UPC you'd be asked to enter the sub-profiles (child-profiles) too. So there shouldn't be any need to work with "Count As" and collection numbers all that much.

Please give the UPC of the parent profile and I'll try to give you a little help on how to achieve the goal.

*smartass mode on*
Actually it can have any value between 0 and 32767. If you try a bigger value, you get an unhandled exception.

Oops,
you don't want to say that infinite is bigger than 32768, do you?

I am trying is counting the movie profile the matrix collection as 0 than each movie in the set as 1 and the collection number only to the Matrix collection. With what I have in the database now I should have 35 total but it lists 32.

I have many movie sets like this...

Matrix collection UPC  883929035953

The Arrival Two feature films on one DVD  UPC 01223607610

Lord of the Rings Extended blue-ray edition UPC 794043151293

How should I set these movies, with count as and collection numbers. I would do something lie what I did with the matrix, is the the wrong way to do this? I would count the main profile as a collection number not each disc in the set.

This is a boxset, which should contain 4 sub-profiles (Children)
(Disc ID: 039B-E2D4-C373-57DF)
(Disc ID: 89CC-C29C-9BE4-0F5F)
(Disc ID: 97AB-8FD7-281F-BB70)
(Disc ID: B954-9C6D-2C45-0742)
This is recognisable by the little "+" in the upper left corner of the profile in your collection list.
If the + isn't there: Highlight the profile and check for child profiles (If I'm not entirely wrong this function is in the menu "Online").

A possible setting would be:
Parent Profile:
Count As: 0
Coll #: None
Children:
Count As: 1
Coll #: According to your preferences (e.g. 1 - 4)

Quote:
The Arrival Two feature films on one DVD  UPC 01223607610

Now this is a special case. I handle these this way:
Main profile is empty, with two manual sub-profiles added which contain the data of the movies.

A possible setting would be:
Parent Profile:
Count As: 1
Coll #: According to your preferences (e.g. 5)
Children:
Count As: 0
Coll #: None

The "official" way would be to enter the data of the 2 features into the main-profile, divided by an "Episode-Divider". A possible setting for this would be:
Count As: 1
Coll #: According to your preferences (e.g. 5)

Quote:
Lord of the Rings Extended blue-ray edition UPC 794043151293

And another one that has some fun.
Here we have three main-features which expand over two discs each.

Please download the correct child-profiles (if they haven't downloaded automatically or the download was declined manually).

A possible setting would be:
Parent Profile:
Count As: 0
Coll #: None
Features:
Count As: 1
Coll #: According to your preferences (e.g. 6 - 8)

The matrix does have the children listed so that is fine. want you are saying is  I really should not try to count every movie in a box set correct?  I have not had time to figure out all the settings yet. what is the  episode divider setting. I will be looking for it tomorrow.

What I am thinking is not using the count as and just use the collection count only. this would be physical count of each DVD and DVD box set.  could I count the all the children in the coll# and not in the count as would that work?

what I would like is each movie counted even if it is in a boxset. below does work now.

Here Scott is what I have done

I do not count the parent profile

Arrival movies "children" 1 each

LOTR set counted as 3 since they are three movies with different names.

Matrix movies "Children" as 1 each

With this my counts is correct if I do not count that parent profile. which is one of Lewis Prothero's ideas.

Which works. I do not use the collection count this make numbering complicated to me. Comments welcome I am leaning how this software works.Sorry I was reediting that last post when you replied to it.

Not quite.

You need to distinguish between Features and Profiles.
My suggestion would count the movies (Features) but not the discs (Profiles), which is usually what you want to achieve.

Since the program's default would be that every profile gets a Coll# and a "Count As" of 1, for the counting you described you wouldn't need to change any values at all.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

What does this mean distinguish between Features and Profiles.  what is a profile each movie I add the parent?  This is maybe what I am not understanding. Do you mean just count the parent movies not each children?

A profile is a record in the database.  Some profiles are boxes, some are discs containing one or more feature films, some are bonus discs, some are discs of television episodes or short features (e.g. cartoons).

With what you seem to want to do, you're on the right track to count box profiles as 0 and individual movie profiles as 1.  There is no right way or wrong way to count the items in your database.

I have a boxed set with ten films on five discs.  I count the box as 0 and each double-featured disc as 2, giving me a total of 10 in the count.  It's just a matter of deciding which profiles you want to count and what you want the count of that specific profile to be.
