| Posted: | | | | Hi,
there is something that has been bothering me for quite some time. When I log on to my computer I tend to open multiple programs (browser, mail, etc.) at the same time. Now the issue I have is that when I start DVD Profiler, it forces itself in the foreground, no matter what. Other programs just load in the background and just stay there until I change the focus onto them. For example, I start DVD Profiler and Thunderbird and Thunderbird comes up first. Then I'm in the middle of entering my mail password and DVD Profiler forces itself in the foreground before I could finish what I was doing. It is of course only a small issue and maybe I'm the only one having a problem with that. But whenever this happens, I'm asking myself what was the intention behind this. So, I would like to propose to change this so that DVD Profiler stays in the background until asked for by the user. | | | Bye, Elwood |

DVDProfiler shows in the foreground, and the focus (active window) remains on the other program.
So in your scenario when typing something without clicking onto the DVDProfiler window first it will be typed into the hidden window of Thunderbird. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

but this will not prevent that the main-program will steal the foreground from the active window. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Maybe you could use a tool to delay startup of your other software until after DVD Profiler has finished opening. There are free tools* out there that can accomplish this. --------------- * I haven't use any such utility myself, but several do exist and one of them may be of use to you. |

| Posted: | | | | The foreground behavior is not something we're doing in our code. It's an artifact of the version of Delphi used for DVD Profiler for Windows, so there's no quick fix on our end. However, there are some things that can be done to reduce the effect: Right-click on the DVD Profiler icon in your startup group and select Properties. On the Target line, add a space then /nosplash. This will prevent the display of the splash screen. Also on that panel, change the 'Run' setting to 'Minimized' instead of 'Normal Window'. With these settings, DVD Profiler will appear momentarily in the foreground, but will minimize immediately, returning foreground to the previously running program. You can speed it up a bit more by adding a DWORD registry setting 'DisableEffects', set to 1 in the HKCY\Software\Invelos Software\DVD Profiler section. This disables the fade-in effect. *EDIT* Missed GSyren's response, so some of this is a repeat. | | | Invelos Software, Inc. Representative | | | Last edited: by Ken Cole |
