I have just moved from my ageing (and becoming unreliable) HTC HD2 (Windows Mobile 6.5) to a Nokia Lumia 830 (Windows Phone 8.1) and... I'm craving for a WP8.1 (soon W10M) version of DVD Profiler...

You and me both.

Unfortunately, it does not appear to be in the plans for Invelos.

I don't think there are any plans. Windows Phone 8.1 has had Universal apps for some time now and will go on to include the new Windows 10, there really is no excuse now.

Your only hope is this unofficial app (not been updated for a long time, but still works if you're lucky)

p.s. I'm really surprised that there were still Windows Mobile users out there, bet they don't sell many of those versions anymore judging by no updates for 4 years.

There is plenty of excuse.

Android and iOS inched closer to total domination of the worldwide smartphone market in both the fourth quarter (4Q14) and the calendar year 2014 (CY14). According to data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, Android and iOS accounted for 96.3% of all smartphone shipments, up slightly from 95.6% in 4Q13 and from 93.8% in CY13.

Windows Phone had the smallest year-over-year increase among the leading operating systems growing just 4.2%, well below the overall market.

If the early article from the Register is right then I can't see any real incentive for Invelos to develop a universal app. Especially as Profiler runs on many different versions of windows that don't use it.

Full reg article

Quote:

A universal app has multiple targets, each with its own code. There is also a shared code area. When you build the app, Visual Studio combines the shared code with the target-specific code, creating an executable for each target.

If you are developing an app for, say, Windows Phone, then a universal app makes sense if it can easily be adapted to run on PCs. Those developing line-of-business apps for Windows PCs face a different decision. Is it better to create a universal app that can easily also run on Windows Phone, a small platform, or to create a desktop app that can also run on Windows 7, a large platform? That sounds like an easy decision, but one which loses the benefit of One Windows.

Universal apps allows you to run the same app on desktop, tablet and phone. The current windows desktop doesn't run well on my tablet and not at all.

I'd also hope to see a Windows Phone app in the future, with similar capabilities to the ios and android ones.

In the mean time I did found an app in the app store called DVD Register, that will sync with DVD Profiler via a plugin. Not associated to invelos but works ok to view your collection.

Disagree, beucause with universal apps, if you develop for windows, it's all of windows, not flavors. Therefore, given invelos is developed for windows, not making it a universal app is just being stubborn, or purposely ignoring a part of paying users that were left behind in windows mobile, and were promised lifetime licenses (so the expectation is lifetime usage possibility)

Well, it never stopped working on the Windows phones it was programmed for... The "Lifetime" is obviously not defined as how long you live, but as long as your phone lives.

A WP app would be a much appreciated addition to my DVD Profiler experience. With Windows 10 beta testing on all platforms and universal apps now a reality, it would be nice to see Invelos give us an option that will sync across desktop, tablet, phone and Xbox. The thought of an Xbox app is very appealing!

I don't have check in depth but I think universal apps won't be so easily to develop and must be developed with Microsoft tools. So if DVD Profiler is not developed with them I think Ken has to start from scratch to be able to develop DVD Profiler. And I think the GUI of universal application must be think for the different environment/worlds because you don't develop a same user interface for a computer than for a smartphone.

An observation: A Windows Phone app will take about as long as it took for the Android app. That was something like 4-5 years.
You can only hope for someone as talented a kitoliver who developed an independent Android app. Ken even let us use these forums for our discussions, which was appreciated. There were a group of us who helped beta test.
The project was abandoned when the official Android app was released.
You need to find a Windows Mobile programer!

Don't need it because I have iOS devices so use the application of Ken. I just answered to people talking about universal application on Windows saying it shouldn't be so easily to have an universal app  I think universal application will be a good concept when you develop a new application but maintain an application you are developing for many years and want to do an universal app won't be the same case.

I have just moved away from iPhone.. I am over paying $1000+ for a phone and now have a Nokia 930 with Windows 8.1 for just over $400..  I realise that it is a numbers game for developers and there needs to be the customer count to justify the Windows development.

In the meantime, I am accessing my collection database through the browser on the phone.. It works, but not so good as a purpose built Windows Phone app.

Now that Microsoft has added the ability to port Android apps to Windows, even one less reason to NOT support Windows 10.
