| Posted: | | | | Why are there 2 Main Profiles for both Carrie, And John Carpenter's The Thing? I did a lot of work providing info and scans, creating Alternate's like it SAYS in the Rules for different artwork, for alternate covers. and two of the same UPC"S goes against forum rules. One UPC for a product.
Some Clarification Please... | | | The artist formerly known as TylerDurden_73 |

| Posted: | | | | Does it surprise you? People seem to do what ever they want whether or not it's against the rules and then those same people will argue against contributions because it's not to their liking or against the rules. |

Some Clarification Please... I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Looking at these in the database, you are the one who submitted the 2 profiles for each. For "Carrie: Deluxe Limited Edition of 2000" you submitted both a main UPC profile and a UPC #1 alternate. For "John Carpenter's the Thing: Deluxe Limited Edition of 1500" you submitted both a main UPC profile and a UPC #1 alternate. The other 2 retail "non-limited" Main Profiles for each film have totally different UPC's than those Limited Editions. | | | Corey | | | Last edited: by Katatonia |

The other 2 retail "non-limited" Main Profiles for each film have totally different UPC's than those Limited Editions. Agreed. Not quite sure what the OP is referring to. There's three profiles of each at the moment. Carrie has the two the OP submitted (UPC and Alternate UPC like you're supposed to do) and then the "non-limited" with a different UPC. The Thing is in exactly the same boat. Two the OP submitted (UPC and Alternate) and then the "non-limited" with a different UPC. So from where I'm looking at this, there aren't "2 Main Profiles" that share a UPC. There's a non-limited release for both with a different UPC. Then there's the limited release for both, with an Alternate ID for the different covers. The only thing I can think JackKnight, is that you're getting confused because when you search for the limited editions by their UPC, it would bring up both profiles for the limited editions and wouldn't necessarily show one as having the alternate ID? It'd just show both by the regular UPC. Could that be where the problem lies? | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. | | | Last edited: by Merrik |

Could that be where the problem lies? Guess I'm not understanding why there are three profiles. We have the non-limited release, a profile for the second slipcover, and a third "alternate profile" for the second slipcover. Thus we have: 1) UPC 826663-169904 for the non-limited release 2) UPC 826663-169935 for the second slipcover 3) Alternate ID (VCG9J665KP6K00001) for UPC (826663-169935) for the second slipcover Why are there two profiles for the second slipcover? Better yet, why isn't there only only profile since the other UPC (two profiles) is only for the second slipcover? Has this become Slipcover Profiler? |

Agreed, I'm as confused as you are about how they are entered in the database. The Limited Editions (only sold direct from Shout! Factory) came with two separate Slip Covers. I'm not sure if they each have the same UPC on the their back covers or what exactly... I only have the normal retail versions, as the extra Slip Cover just doesn't interest me. I wouldn't think that just a separate Slip Cover, by itself, which comes with the same release warrants its own Alternate Profile. | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | I'm still waiting to hear from JackKnight since, as Katatonia pointed out, he's the one who submitted those profiles. |

Has this become Slipcover Profiler? I'd guess you'd have to ask the OP that question lol. He's the one that entered them this way, and now has confusion about how they're entered? *edit - and that's not exactly how they're entered, see below (*edit - came to new thoughts and conclusions lol, see next post) I dunno. | | | The night is calling. I wouldn't think that just a separate Slip Cover, by itself, which comes with the same release warrants its own Alternate Profile. They do NOT have the same UPC. I've uploaded pictures to make it easier for my poor brain to explain The above images are for the regular release, and the first "Limited Edition" release. The above images are for the second "Limited Edition" release. As you can see, the FIRST slip cover for the "Limited Edition" is EXACTLY the same as the regular edition (hole cut out for the same UPC and everything). The SECOND slip cover for the "Limited Edition" is the one that's different. Looking through all this, I'm beginning to think that 3 profiles truly aren't needed. The first "Limited Edition" with the FIRST slip cover isn't entered that way. It's not entered under it's UPC of 826663169904. It's entered under the other UPC (826663169935), has a promo image of all the covers as it's front cover, and a back cover scan of the SECOND slip cover even though it should have a back cover scan of the FIRST slip cover. The second "Limited Edition" is entered as it should be, with the second slip cover, front and back. Then there's the regular edition, which is IDENTICAL to the FIRST "Limited Edition" except for things that we CAN'T profile in the system (a second slip cover and a poster). So, really, there's actually no need for the FIRST "Limited Edition". If anything, MAX 2. Exactly as you see above. The first one UPC 826663169904, entered as just the regular Collector's Edition. The second one UPC 826663169935, entered as just the "Limited Edition". No need for the third, as the way it's entered right now anyway is completely misleading (with a promo image for the front cover and the back cover of the SECOND slip cover). I just entered the regular editions into my collection at this point to avoid any unnecessary confusion or tension, as when I tried to update the "Limited Edition" profiles, I got no votes because I changed the release date from the Shipped Date (you could only order them through Shout! and they shipped it approx. 3 weeks early if you did, and the original submission used the date his were shipped, but mine for example, were shipped 2 days after his were... so to me it makes no sense to use the shipping date when they're all shipped on slightly different dates, maybe I'll change the release date to the day mine were shipped , when we have an official release date and there's no difference between the profiles besides the stuff we can't actually profile except in other features). Anyway. Babbling again. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. | | | Last edited: by Merrik |

| Posted: | | | | All the above information is exactly the same by the way for The Thing, just obviously with different cover art (And all of this information by the way, could also be attributed to Shout's release of The Return of the Living Dead and Child's Play... although at the moment, both of those films only have 2 profiles a piece... One for the regular Collector's Edition and one for the "Limited Edition" with proper covers entered for each profile) | | | The night is calling.
