Dear forum. These are my first words here, though I actually have been using DVD Profiler since 2007.

I have a specific contribution problem, that You, the Community, may think is no problem at all.

A few years ago I added my Norwegian EAN 5050582869101 (Rambo: The Trilogy: Ultimate Edition), that came up unknown. It's just a cheap DVD box set, so I haven't prioritized to fill inn the blanks until now. This week I finally got time to enter the details to the profile, and it's child profiles. I have regulary refreshed my database from the online database, so this profile have not been contributed by other users yet.

After a few hours of work, I contributed the main box set profile. Everything seemed OK so far. But when I tried to contribute child profiles (Disc ID only), they seem to already have been contributed as stand alone EAN movies with their own covers. I then remembered I did get a heads up, noting me that each Disc ID for the child profiles already were registered as their correct movies. But I have seen this in earlier versions of DVD Profiler, where disc IDs then have pointed to other countries. So I ignored these notes, thinking I did the right.

The already existing online child profiles made me abort the contribution of the child profiles from my collection, because I didn't want to mess up others peoples fine work.

I got so confused, but I want to do this right. I therefore ask the community of what You recommend me to do with this. Should I dust leave it this way? The main box set profile I just contributed would then probably get the existing child profiles, with wrong EAN's and their own profile pictures. Is that OK? Maybe I should have done this in another way (how)? Please advise.

Box set: 5050582869101.12 (Norwegian)
Child 1: I75F5FDC0471C7506.12 (Norwegian)
Child 2: IFCC56519D08EB02E.12 (Norwegian)
Child 3: I7D43B6E270845A9C.12 (Norwegian)

I had a look by downloading 5050582869101 in my Wish List. The only profile 5050582869101 in the dB is for region 16 (Finland), 5050582869101.16 which has 3 child profiles entered by UPC,:
5706550022688.16
5706550022695.16
5706550022701.16

You should be able to contribute the profile with region 12 (Norway), 5050582869101.12

Regarding the child profiles: if you try to contribure by discID and another discID profile already exists in the same locality (12 here), you have to create an alternate version.

Thank You, Wigram! You did a thoroughly research to make me an understandable answer after just a short time. I really appreciate that. Alternate versions was a first for me, so I didn't think of that. I just tried it, and I love this function already.  Now I understand the numbers for regions as well.

I have made a contribution of the entire box set again, so I think I got it right this time.

By the way: May I ask if there is a common practise to mark Your answer (or this thread) for solved in any way? (How?)

I am not aware of any way to do that, but thanks for your feedback. Happy profiling!

Not standard, but good practice anyways in my opinion. There should be an visible before the subject, simply putting [Solved] in front of it would be my solution.

It might be a good idea. I will follow Mithi's suggestion. Thanks.
