David Essex in Octaman, Same as another Actor/Musicican?

Trying to determine if the David Essex in the 1971 film Octaman is the same as another person who appeared in several films from the early 1970's thru the 2014 film The Guvnors.

The film is directed by Harry Essex, an American, and the David Essex in Octaman is his son.

The British David Essex wasn't even born as David Essex, his real name being David Albert Cook. And his father was Albert Cook - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Essex)

Than it looks like a birth year for the 1947 one is required.
