DVD Profiler's Movie Pick feature lets you browse your collection interactively and pick movies to watch. It's the feature to use when you're in the mood to watch something but aren't sure just what to watch.

Movie Pick is a premium-only feature. Click here for details on premium registration.

For a basic tour of Movie Pick, see the Movie Pick Tour.

To decide what DVDs are shown:

Movie Pick first selects only DVDs that are in your Owned Collection

Next, Movie Pick filters out any DVDs that are on loan.

Next, Movie Pick applies the filters you've applied in the Filters section of the main collection display.

Finally, Movie Pick applies the constraints you've selected (maximum length, last watched, and audience). It will show only DVDs that are appropriate to all the selected audience members. To check/change the appropriate ratings, select Edit Users.

To decide what order those DVDs are shown:

Movie Pick uses the settings in the Consider section. For instance, although the constraints "Last Watched" setting may be set to show "Any", Movie Pick will by default still try to show movies you've never seen, or those you've not seen recently, before it shows those you've watched recently.

As you rate each selection, Movie Pick will apply your rating to all the DVDs it hasn't shown yet and decide what to show next. If you give a postive rating, it will try to find similar DVDs and show them sooner. Negative ratings mean Movie Pick shows similar titles later.

If you select the current shown DVD, Movie Pick considers it the same as a very positive rating.

Other features and settings:

Selection Ratings are automatically reset between Movie Pick sessions. To reset your ratings in the middle of a session (for instance when changing audience), click Reset Match Scores ()

You can also control how Movie Pick does selection matching by selecting Options. For instance, you can have Movie Pick give less consideration to Actors and more to Genres. This controls how Movie Pick decides what DVDs are similar to each other.
