I submitted profiles for Battlestar Galactica: Season 3 SteelBook. I didn't include a cover scan which was bad, but want to see other reasons for declines so I can correct and resubmit. Is there a way to see this so I don't keep making the same mistakes? Thanks.

There is reasons sometimes added to declines. But not always as all the reasons is not yet added into the system. Where you see it declined it will show the reason right under it if the reason is available.

A couple of the most common reasons is not sourcing your info.

Adding uncredited cast without documentation.

To see if you've been given a reason for a decline, click on "My Profiler" above, then on "Contributions" in the left menu on the next page.
This will list all your recent submissions. If you've been given a reason (there are only a certain number of standard reasons) then it will be visible in this list.

what do you mean by sourcing? i just found out we are not allowed to use 3rd party db's. what can we use if not on the dvd cover itself?

If you are talking about cast/crew info... only thing allowed per rules is the actual end credits.. even the case would be against the rules.

As for sourcing... you have to tell them exactly what you added/changed and where the info came from even if it seems obvious... if they are not told.. they do not know.

If you need to reference an outside source (for example SRP or role names if there are none in the end credits) then try and list about three independent sources that back up your data.
If I remember rightly the only data that must come from the dvd itself is the cast & crew and the disc info. Everything else may be taken from the dvd cover as getting it from the dvd would require extra software. Only go to an outside source if there is no way you can get the info from the dvd or cover.

When submitting, you also need to say in the notes where the info came from. For example, if you entered the list of subtitle languages from the back cover, say in your notes something like "subtitle languages taken from back cover". You don't have to write an essay, just try and be concise and cover all the info you're submitting.

Scottie

You don't use the DVD cover either. Read the Rules, they will tell you to use the ACTUAL show credits exactly as listed.

If you want to know why you got declined you should probably be paying attention to votes after you submit, we are required to provide a reason when we vote No.

I don't know if scotties's contribution of BSG3 is the one I'm thinking of, but I remember recently that someone tried to change the case type for a profile to SteelBook which clearly wasn't a SteelBook.  Nearly everyone who voted on it agreed that the UPC in question was a regular case type instead of SteelBook.
