| Posted: | | | | Good one: as usual, the staggering number of 73 alledged "André Maranne" credits is bound to be largely IMDb-mined data (not to mention the fact that he obviously doesn't have 73 different cast credits in the database - more like 30). Here's what I can confirm:
Andre Maranne: - Curse of the Pink Panther - Gold - Jason King (ep. 'Wanna Buy a Television Series?') - The Pink Panther Strikes Again - The Razor's Edge - Remington Steele: Season Three (ep. 'Steele at It') - Trail of the Pink Panther
André Maranne: - A Shot in the Dark | | | Last edited: by T!M |

| Posted: | | | | FYI, André Maranne is French, and Andre simply doesn't exist in France. I'm quite sure most of Andre are incorrect conversions of ANDRE by users ignoring French spelling. | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | Which Ken already clarified on this... E=e É = é for DVD Profiler purposes. Edit to Quote Ken: Quoting Ken Cole: Quote: We're not making a policy change here, so don't read too much into this. We maintain that the most commonly credited form of a person's name is how they should be entered in DVD Profiler, with the Credited As field used where this does not match. Unfortunately, in most cases there is not definitive source for the actor's name, and in many cases the name changes over time.
Linking variations as a solution creates issues where there are overlaps, which if all variants are allowed become all too frequent. The Credited As solution as implemented allows the two main goals: Credits listed 'As Credited', and the ability to cross-link all credits for a given actor.
This thread is specifically about accents and special characters.
Quoting lmoelleb:
Quote: 2) Use English rules to do the actual conversion between lower and upper case (so always convert "E" to "e", never to "é").
No, there are no special English rules to apply. Since "é" has a corresponding "É", simple capital conversion is all that's required. If the character used in the all-caps name is "É", convert it to "é" as needed to create mixed case. If the character used in all-caps is "E", convert it to "e" as needed to create mixed case. See section I put in bold. | | | Pete | | | Last edited: by Addicted2DVD |

First, I'm NOT able to answer, for French, but I know from other Mediterranean languages, like Greek, this: "When a word is written entirely in capital letters, diacritics are never used." Source: Source: wikipedia: Greek_diacriticsI guess this is the same in French!? | | | Karsten | | | Last edited: by karstenp |
