| Posted: | | | | I was just recalling a feature from a forum in my past. When you block a person here, other than seeing that the person posted last in a topic, that person completely vanishes. This can, at times, cause confusion since the person is still posting and others are still replying. What I loved about that particular forum was that the person's posts are not visable, but a placeholder of the person's username remains just to let you know that the person has posted a new message. In the case of this forum, it could look something like this: | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
He who MUST get the last word in on a pointless, endless argument doesn't win. It makes him the bigger jerk. |

| Posted: | | | | Excellent suggestion Not that I have anyone blocked, but I can see how confusing it may be. And extra credit for the nice mockup! | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar | | | Last edited: by GSyren |

| Posted: | | | | I have no blocks set at the moment, but this really is a good idea, so from me, too. (boy, I must've been drunk when making that random post... apparently not as much as yoda and north, though ) | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. (Bender Bending Rodriguez) |

| Posted: | | | | I can see how this might be useful. So +1 | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | I'm OK with it how it is now. If I have someone blocked I don't even want to know how many times they post. Out of sight out of mind is how I see it.
Yes, blocking someone can make threads hard to read, especially if the person blocked posts a lot in those threads, but the suggestion wont resolve that. Without reading the blocked posts you still wont know whats going on.
I'm not opposed to the suggestion, I just don't think it will add anything or make it easier to read. |

I completely understand why you blocked Blair! But seriously Blair, this is a terrific idea although I understand what lyonsden5 means about out of sight out of mind. The best part though is the imaginary postings - good stuff - they made my day. |

Sorry guys, but I had to start somewhere! I didn't want to use the original posts (this is a mockup after all), so randomness seemed the best choice. Oh and Draxen... you would have received the same level of drunkenness if your original post hadn't been so short | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

Unfortunately, that is far, far more difficult, especially with this forum software not using any kind of post snapback feature... and then exponentially more difficult if you only wanted quoted text from a blocked user to be hidden and not anything else within the rest of the same post. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | I've always been curious as to whether it is possible to code the forum software so that if someone is on your block list, they can't post in a thread you created? |
